PF-9

I can't speak for long term but I love the PF-9 I bought last week. I've ran a couple of boxes through it and have not had a problem. It comes apart to clean easily and is also easy to put back together. I hope all the problems ya'll have written of have already been worked out on these newer pistols. I'll let you know if I have any.

Hides very easy if you have been trying to hide a big boy! Also puts a big enough hole out there for me to feel very comfortable.

Buck shot

If I carry a BUG then it has to be as reliable as my primary because if I need it I'm not willing to bet my life on something that works great 99% of the time.
That being said, my P3AT has turned out to be 100% reliable and very accurate. I trust it as a BUG and as a primary when nothing else fits.

I currently have a P-11 and a P-3AT. Both have been fired over 400 rounds and have been 100% reliable.

I bought a P-11 shortly after getting my 1st carry license. At the time, it was the best comprimise (adequate caliber yet small enough) I could afford.

It won me over completely.

Personally, I've had no FTFs or FTEs. A friend who tried it did have a FTE when limp wristing it.

The only problem I've had was a broken hammer pivot pin. Note that this was discovered when disassembling it for cleaning, it did NOT cause the psitol to fail in any way during the range trip it was discovered after. The break was straight through the pin in such a way that I had to look at the diagrams, re assemble the pistol and take it apart again, and then finally e-mail Kel Tec to ask if it was supposed to be one part or two. Kel-Tec sent me a replacement part by first class mail free with a response letter saying it was supposed to be a single part.

Bear in mind that it is NOT a range gun. The trigger is heavy and long. Plinking quickly becomes uncomfortable. But it works and it's smaller than any other 10 shot 9mm's I've seen (and smaller than most with less capacity). Accuracy, if you can control the trigger well, is adequate for head shots at 15 yards.

For instance, there is some talk about the Kel-Tecs taking Ruger magazines - believe me this is not the case.

Pax, that's the right idea but the wrong company. The P11 will take magazines from the Smith and Wesson 59 series.

I've had my P3at for about 3 years. It had a feeding issue at first but after a 2 week trip to Kel Tec it has been flawless. I carry it as a backup gun most of the time--primary carry only when I need to but that little gun is in my pocket about 90% of the time--you just kind of forget it's there lol.
I like having more than one gun for each caliber I shoot. My p3at was the only thing I had in 380. I started looking for another gun in 380 and everything was to big or I didn't like it so--I got another P3AT.
Kind of a back up gun for my back up gun. It's a good little gun--definetely worth having for it's intended purpose --which is self defense

I have been rather impressed with Kel-tec's offerings over the past couple of years. I like how they are finding a niche and then filling it with good quality, innovative guns. A lot of other manufacturers could take notes on that point.

I carried a P3AT as a primary for 2 years, until I went over to the PF-9, and then the wife took over the P3AT.

One of my main preferences for kel-tec's as a carry gun is the fact that if one were ever to have to defend oneself with a gun, even if it is a 100% justified, legal, so called "good" shoot, the chances of getting that gun back from the police and courts system is not very good.

Once the cops have a gun as "Evidence", you almost literally have to move heaven and earth to get it back from them. In my mind, it is certainly better to lose a $250, eminently replacable pistol than a much more expensive and harder to replace piece you are attatched to and have a lot invested in.

The only negative thing I've experienced with any kel-tec was my first time out with my new PF-9. On the second shot, the extractor spring broke off, rendering the pistol non-functional. I called kel-tec, and they sent me a new spring and extractor. I have not had any problems again.

Isolated incident? Bum extractor spring? Bad luck? Who knows...

In the whole though, I believe Kel-tecs are inexpensive, high quality, low maintenance, highly concealable pistols, and I generally recommend them to those who ask me about a good pistol for CCW.

I carry a P3-AT every day with no worries. Rock Solid little powerhouse...

I carry it with DPX ONLY...
