Kimber Micro Raptor review.

I checked several times after removing the magazine and locking the slide to make sure the pistol was clear. And as for the firing part, that's why I was out shooting tonight lol. And this confirms why shooting prior to carrying is paramount!
It's not just about shooting X number of rounds to your satisfactory as far as reliability, it's also about being comfortable with the gun.

I have my own doubts on whether ANYONE can really get comfortable with a 'new to them' gun in a mag or two, some may claim otherwise.

My latest "small gun" that I bought a little over a month ago has about 150rds through it. I will probably put another 200 or so through it before I carry it. Honestly I'm sold on the cycling/reliability of it right now at 150rds, but I want more time shooting with it.

All guns shoot different and you need to make sure you can hit better than the broad side of a barn more than once before you decide to carry it.

Again best of luck to you...

I never said that I was comfortable with it? I agree with you though. I don't plan on carrying for a while anyhow.

Yeah I don't plan on using any of it. I'll take the box to my LGS and see if they want it for whatever reason. I don't plan on shooting another single round through any of my pistols. So upset with G2 right now!

Yeah I would be very upset if that happened with one of my guns too. The Truth About Guns website has a pretty comprehensive write-up on the G2 R.I.P. ammo and they were not particularly impressed by it's performance either. And at $50 for 20 rounds it's not exactly on the less expensive side of the scale in terms of SD ammo.

I only paid $40 for my box, however it's still $2 a round. I expected it to at the VERY least fire properly, you know?

But, I do have an update. My LGS unstuck the round this morning and I traded them the box of G2 ammo for a box of Gold Dot. I lost $18, but I figure it was a good trade off for the service they give me, the discounts and their patience with me. I took it out this afternoon and was successfully able to put 112 rounds through it without much incident. Until the very last round of Winchester ball ammo. It isn't really much of an issue and I'm not sure if it was just because it was a partially full magazine or what, but the slide failed to lock back with the very last round I fired for the day. Truly not a huge concern in my opinion. I'll accept this type of "failure" with as many rounds as I put through it today.

Also, something I would like to ask the gallery. When breaking down your 1911's do you notice any markings from the casting process? I've noticed two small marks while breaking mine down today. One on the hammer and one on the takedown pin. Any comments??

It's only letting me upload one photo from my mobile, so here is the hammer.

Oh, one more thing. It's shooting low left. Any way to remedy this??

I am among the positive Kimber owners having several and never had to shoot them for hundreds of rounds before reliable as they had that status out of the box. Unfortunately some folks walk around with a rain cloud over their head most of the time.
Sooner, Sorry about your ammo problem and hope you enjoy your Micro as much as I (that is when the barrel is clear).

Oh I do enjoy it. I think it was 100% an ammo issue as opposed to a Kimber issue. The 112 rounds were just to begin to familiarize myself with the new pistol is all. The barrel was cleared yesterday morning before I practiced some with it. Can you look at the hammer of your's and tell me if it has the casting marks?

I don't care how many positive experiences I've had with firearms from any manufacturer, to none do I assign reliable status "out of the box" before I've verified reliability myself by shooting it, with much more than a magazine or two full of ammunition. That includes trying it with the same ammunition upon which I will depend, and even more so for a brand new firearm model. That goes even for revolvers.

Big Jake, I guess my message was not clear, what i meant was the pistol did not have functioning problems and was ok " right out of the box" . I too would not carry anything i was not satisfied would function each time needed.
I just got a Remington R 51 and " right out of the box" it has performed well and now with 400 rounds through it I am confident it is reliable. So again " right out of the box" it worked well.
