One is wise to pay attention to the "streets", just as animals do in the animal kingdom.
My contentions as I have shared before, and will again, is my concerns has always been entering and exiting a structure and answering the door.
Perceptions- What do I want to be Perceived as?
WE had some legit folks selling steaks, they did not wear uniforms or badges, and the small trucks varied by make and model, still the freezer on the trucks were all similar.
Some were shiny metal, mounted to the truck like a camper shell, and some were nothing more than small freezers, one can buy at any appliance store.
These were strapped in, and had a lock, and plugged up while parked, and unplugged out making rounds, and the steaks and other meats stayed frozen for so many hours.
Pretty much a local idea, and it was legit, and nice.
They had routes and customers, and it was pre arranged to come after folks got home from work, anywhere from 6:30 to about 9:30 pm.
This allowed folks to get home, and about 9 - 9:30 was understood folks had kids to ready for bed or whatever.
There were some other legit companies doing similar, and like the steak and meat folks, elderly appreciated this, and often times their route was during the day, being retired most times.
Retirement centers, had days they expected such folks to come.
Seriously, are really nice service for these folks.
One did all sorts of food from ice cream to pizza to meat , to casseroles to pies and cobblers and so much more.
Now these folks would leave extra information, menus and the like with customers, or do a neighborhood leaflet on doors, or the like.
The contacted complex management, the local LEO , BBB and even AG of the State.
This information was on the leaflets, and other brochures.
Just call the local Police , or BBB ( number was provided) and check them out.
The demise was not that of customers, or shady deals, or any wrong doing of these persons.
Criminals were.
They armed robbed , vandalized and targeted these small independent delivery persons.
Insurance, liability, and employee safety dictated it was best to close these independent home delivery services.
Same reason some drug stores do not do offer home delivery anymore.
Pretty sad, especially with our aging society.
Heck, I was recovering from surgery, and I appreciated these folks coming by, as I did the local drug store and grocery store bringing me what I needed, when I was down.
Yes, one needs to be responsible for safety, I had code words with the delivery folks, as I knew them and they me.
One word meant all was fine, another meant they were being forced and used to gain access to me and mine.
I do this code word with elderly and physically limited I run with.
Home deliveries have a place, and there are still small town, or mom and pops that do this service.
It might be the drug store owner him or her self, that runs by after work, and it is dark depending on time of year.
Code words work both ways, one means all is well, another might mean the druggist is being forced to gain entry to a residence, or can be the druggist is being targeted and needs the customer's assistance in staying safe.
Just other ways to look at all this is all...
