looking for a pistol grip for less recoil for clays and tighter defence for home. found knoxx's spec ops stock online for $120...looks like a great idea, and easy to install to boot, anyone got some imput on this?

I put one on my 870 and it is simply amazing.

I took it to the range for the first time this past sunday and put 30 rounds of various types of shot through it. Little or no felt recoil. Slugs kicked the hardest, but even then I could have spent all day shooting them. The only problem I had was that my arms were getting tired holding the gun up! (Note to self: Do more push-ups).

It was really easy to install and worked as advertised. Money well spent.

The Knox SpecOp stock is the real deal. I hadn’t shot a shotgun in two decades. Right from the first shot, I was hitting the target in the sternum area. I shot 30 .00 shells; 15 regular, 15 reduced recoil. Using it with Remington Managed Recoil shells it is like shooting a strong .22.

Really, it is unbelievable. My shoulder was fine that day and the next.

I bought teh tactical 870 (with the stock already on) and it's amazing.
I was shooting trap with it all night long (had to test it you know:p ) and after you get used to basically NO recoil, you shoot very well with it.
It's really neat

I recently got one. My wife had some trouble shooting with the standard
length stock and also had a bit of trouble w/ the recoil.
I'll get chance to test it out tomorrow, but at least because of the
LOP adjustability, my wife is much more comfortable with it.

If you combine a Spec Ops and a Vang Comp barrel, it makes birdshot like a .308 and 00 buck or slugs aren't much worse. Even 3" shells are no problem. Your cheek will be sore long before your shoulder.

I had the chance to test it out for the first time.
I put a few rounds of slugs down range and the stock worked REALLY WELL.
I felt almost nothing in my shoulders.

I had a Knoxx CopStock on my Mossberg 590. Mainly I bought it because I was told it was one of the few 'good' folding stocks out there and it seemed solid enough and I liked the grip. It made the gun a heck of a lot more portable - It would fit in my medium sized duffel bag with the stock folded up and I didn't have to obviously look like I was lugging a long gun around with a gun bag.

It's supposed to have some recoil reducing ballyhoo built into it, too, but it didn't seem to do much for me. Maybe I'm just a wuss. Or maybe the SpecOps stock is the new and improved version. It looks like a similar mechanism, though.

Knoxx works.

I have the Knoxx 'SpecOps' stock on an 870 Express. The springy goodness in the stock/grip smoothes out all the recoil. Heavy slugs are just an even shove. Getting my cheek to the stock without getting bumped took a few rounds to figure out, but it was not a big deal (or painful). If I had one of their new cheek-pieces, I'd bet it would be even easier.

It makes excellent sense for a pump gun. There's nothing in the damping that slowed down how I worked the action. Don't let the 'tactical' CAR looks fool you...it works. Yeah, I shot it one-handed. Recoil was not a problem, aiming was :) .

I'm thinking of getting another cheap 870 express to put a COPstock/whatevernewone on.
