Least Expensive CCW -- Most Expensive CCW

Pennsylvania is $26 now. I had my $20 check returned with a polite note suggesting I up the ante the first time I sent it off.

New York, outside of NYC and Nassau County:

Counties are allowed to charge no less than 5 and no more than 10 dollars for the license, and $99 for the NY DCJS background check fee. Licenses issued outside of NYC, Nassau, Suffolk, and Westchester counties are good for life unless revoked.

So, for most of NY it's $109 for life. Some counties try and charge an extra few dollars for neat-o laminated cards, but that isn't a state-mandated fees.

Arizona requires a class. These are privately administered and range from ~$50-$90. (I paid $79.) This included the fingerprinting, at least at the class I took. The fee to Arizona DPS was $65. From the time I mailed the paperwork to the time I received the permit back in the mail took just under three weeks.

I spent some time in Las Vegas, NV in 2003-2004 but didn't apply. The class ran about $70 and the fee to LVMPD was $105 at that time.

I cant believe some states require fingerprints!!
At some point a line in the sand has to be drawn. If MN EVER required that I would stop getting the permit.....
They wouldn't care. In fact you would be playing right into their hands, and that is to keep the process so idiotic that most say, "to hell with them....."

Michigan's Wayne Cty. has until only recently required that you also get 2 notarized letters of recognition from friends, coworkers, etc. This was actually illegal for them to require, as it was not part of the law, but to protest meant not getting your CPL. As I said, they didn't care. They also said that "Since fingerprints change, you must get re-fingerprinted every renewal."

Since when do fingerprints change?

In Kentucky I believe the class is around $75 and I think that's what I paid a long time ago. No test for renewal. I just renewed my permit. For 4 yrs. Cost; $40 to Ky State Police for background check plus $25 to the Jefferson county(Louisville) Sheriff's office. No finger print, just a picture for the new license.

As a Vermonter.............

My nonresident New Hampshire carry permit costs me 20 bucks for three or four years. No fuss, no hassle. Areal bargain in my opinion........Essex

Hmmm, first off, you must define cost versus benefit. As a Utah Instructor (and yes, I'll hawk my wares now:D ), I charge $65 for a six hour class (minimum of 3 people), $59.00 to the State of Utah for processing, most Law Enforcement agencies do fingerprinting for free (here anyway), can't include ammo as it isn't required, although recommended to do a livefire session in my class. I offer one on one training if requested. Soooo, barebones cost=$124.00 for a permit that is good in 27 States!! Yes, I said 27:what:!!!! It's actually 29, but the other two require you to be a resident of Utah to be legal. The greatest benefit of all, you DO NOT have to be a resident, nor do you have to go to Utah for training to get the permit. You do have to use a Utah approved Instructor though. I live in Green River, Wyoming if anyone is interested. Give me a shout, I don't know if I can post my email on here without grief:eek:

Philly, as well as NY I recall makes you get letters from friends or family.:uhoh: WOuldnt suprise me breaking the law. Here in Missouri St. Louis tries pulling Sh too. Here in MO you must get a permit to aquire each time you buy a pistol. Most countys you get the permit in a few minutes and simple wait. However state law says can take up to 7 days. St. Louis county takes up to ten bizz days sometimes.

The shts going to hit the fan though. Next session they will be holding a hearing at night so people can complain to their reps about the whole process, and hopefully it will go away.
