Drilling a second hole in the handle would also be a good move to enable a tight fitting pin completely through.
I'm seeing a hole on the bottom edge. Of course it isn't the best angle and my eyes could be deceiving me. You can't see the top edge, but if there is a hole on the bottom, I'm betting there is one on the top too. No reason not to.
Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention, and put mine back in the sheath upside down! I haven't been able to get mine out so far. I don't want to destroy the sheath in the process, so I'll probably take it to a friend who has a heat gun.View attachment 1041494 This a Varusteleka (sounds like "where is the liquor") Terävä Skrama 240 Carbon steel. It came from Finland in 2 weeks. It has a 30° edge on the top 2/3 and it tapers to 20° near the handle for finer work.
Looks like he liked it enough to create an homage.Joe Flowers thinks well of the Bushman (and Joe's opinion carries a lot of weight). A couple of simple mods like slipping some bike inner-tube over the handle or wrapping in light cordage and slipping the tube over can improve grip, but also provide fire-starter.
I think 30.oz WITH sheath ; it is 5/16" thick . like I said a pretty good chopper . The saw is a much better design than the original Lile IMHO.Nice, what does it weigh?
