Most accurite load? Well its the same for any Swiss rifle, GP11.

Still waiting for Don, Zak, 1858, and a couple others to show off their beast!

More than happy to comply.

I guess there started being a little battle when things didn't go so smooth. If the reticle had issues they were then Leupolds responsibility and Leupold didn't like that.
Yep, that's pretty much how it went. I bet they wish they had just kept their mouth shut now. :D

I suppose an off the shelf AR can be fairly accurate

Decided on building another toy, gathering parts for this and just waiting on receiving the barrel. It's going to a 223 Improved and throated for the 75gr Amax.

Do Coopers count?

Nice dubble! I like really like those AI stocks too. Some guys like the 1.5 and others the
2.0. I wonder what the major difference is to have such a seperated group between the two?

Do Coopers count?

Of course they do!

dubblea, very nice groups! 5 ten-shot groups... awesome

When this group was shot the barrel had over 5000 rounds through it - over 1000 of those were Aus milsurp (this group was not)

When I had the 6.5x47 Lapua barrel on it, I could hardly find a load that woudln't do this (not that I tried very hard)

I have others but you get the idea.

This one's an oldie from the Eastern bloc - 1942 Izhevsk Mosin Nagant 91/30 that started out as a real POS - I refinished the stock, re-crowned the barrel, bedded the action and put a BSA Contender scope on it.

5 shot group at 100 yards (indoor range).

Zak, I'm surprised to see you post three shot groups. I thought someone as reputable a yourself would only shoot five shot groups. What's up?

I think he only needed three...it was dead after the first one, the second made it stop twitching, and the third was for good measure...any more would just be overkill. :p

Well, I don't shoot groups as an activity. Perhaps in my retirement. ;) I'm not a benchrest shooter and to be honest I often lack the patience to shoot great 5-shot groups. But I do shoot them from time to time. The lower group on the photo below shows five impacts in a four-inch spread from a .338LM AI rifle at 940 yards. (The top group is 3 rounds from a TRG-42; at #4 its scope base came loose and the round was off the target entirely.)

If I am really proofing a rifle system, I'll shoot 5- shot groups, and from the rifles in question, they tend to look pretty much like the 3-round pictures, just with a little more ragged hole. The .308 group posted in the first photo was actually shot for the purpose of confirming zero (these were shots #3, 4, and 5; scope adjustments were done after #1 and #2).

Here's my F-Class (F-TR) 600 yard target from last month with 20 shots for record in 20 minutes using my "tack driver". I shot a 196-6X which is High Master. I settled down after the 5th shot and only had one shot out of the ten ring for the remaining 15. That 13th shot was shooter aiming error :banghead:. I'm pleased (not thrilled) with the vertical spread of 3.771" which is 0.600 MOA. My match load has an SD of 12 fps. I need to get that down to 6 fps and am working on doing just that for a big match this coming Saturday (F-Class mid-range prone course = 15 shots for record in 15 minutes at 300 yards, 500 yards and 600 yards).

I've made a few changes to my "tack driver" and don't have a current photo. I'm going to the range on Wednesday so will take a photo of it in it's latest (and final) iteration.

I have two of the 1.5 stocks (SA and LA) and one 2.0 (SA). If I were starting over, I'd definitely buy the 2.0 version since the folding feature can be useful. I find the 1.5 versions with a 26" barrel to be LONG. When a friend (I helped too :) ) machined the AICS 2.0 to fit my Badger Ordnance action, we had to machine a notch about 3/16" wide and 1/8" deep on top of the "hinge" so that the underside of the bolt has clearance. This isn't an issue with the 1.5 model.

:)

1858, I know that rifle you have is an animal.

dubble, you're not allowed to post anymore pics in this thread! haha I'm starting to get mad at all of these rifles you have.

I seriously need one of these rifles with excellent glass. My rifle isn't horrible, but it isn't even close to these AI's and other rifles you guys have nor is my glass. I'm not the greatest shot in the world, but I shoot alright for the rifle I have. I'm anxious to see how well I could shoot with one of these 5k rifles with 2k glass on them. Must be nice.

I think robby wins if he can show us a pic at 100Y :) He's got even more variables than normal. How would you reloaders like to have ever round compressed and to do the compression by hand without the aid of a press. If your compression is a bit inconsistent, so goes the group. Those AI's make me drool, but the stock on that BP gun is absolutely the most beautiful stock in the thread to me. I love that tiger stripe.
