Liberal to buy gun if Bush wins. Say what!!??

Interestingly enough, everyone is a gun-owner and a shooter, hunter, etc., they're just on the other side of the fence on the voting issue and evil Assault Weapons.

"Why do you feel you NEED that AK-47 and AK15(???) Baba?" This from someone who owns an SKS and several Elk hunting type scoped bolt action .300 Win Mag rifles and semi auto 12 ga. goose hunting shotguns.

Tell him that his "sniper rifle" and "street sweeper" are next.

These kinds of gun owners are not our friends. They are perhaps even worse than the shrill antis at the VPC and the MMM - at least the VPC and Brady Bunch are honest about wanting to ban guns.

Talk about a short war. They couldnt stand against even the rest of the armed citizens who actually learned how to shoot. These guys honestly think that the AKs in the gunshop are "designed to spray bullets from the hip". I think it would be worth the chaos just to see it.

Well, I think they would take them back, saying they're broke. After all, when you pull the trigger, only one bullet comes out :neener:

I've seen some posts by crazy leftists on the Democrat forums that advocate getting assault weapons to destroy the evil republican running dogs of capitalist imperialism. This is the first time I've ever seen the powder-puff left (excluding the SLA and such) advocating armed rebellion.

So they finally recognize the reason for the 2nd Admendment. Just make sure the population agrees with you, though.

Don't worry. After the election the administration willl round up these left wing wackjobs and ship them off to Gitmo, never to be heard from again.

I can hope, can't I? :p

I'm with DMK: it could be that he's theatrically talking about throwing up his hands OR that he's sincerely saying, "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em."

If so, then whatever the cause, here could be your chance to take him (or both of them) shooting and give them a low-key introduction to some people and some viewpoints that they might not have spent much time around. Shooters are friendly. You could offer an invitation to go shooting with you whether or not he ends up buying anything for himself.

Please keep us posted. :)

Is it not interest how a group which falls from power and then begins to believe it is oppressed, threatened with extinction, and in danger of losing personal and civil liberties.

Now here is the nut. The first thing they wanna do is arm themselves!

Just amazing how fast attitudes change under threat of force.

liberal rumors

My cousin, an ardent Kerry supporter, tried to tell me that Bush is going to have gun registration if he is reelected. I asked, “So Kerry is the one to vote for to preserve my Second Amendment rights, even with his voting record in the Senate?†He answered yes. I then said, “Are you high or something?â€

I remember during the '92 campaign when a person I was talking to, told me with a streight face that he feared Bush the Elder procaliming martial law if he thought he was losing the election.

Regarding civil rights and guns, there is a very thought-provoking letter in the current Dillon Blue Press (apologies if it's already been mentioned) where the writer pointed out that although the "Patriot Act" limited some civil liberties, the current administration still trusted the American people to own firearms, whereas most of the opposition, while demanding more civil liberties, does not trust the American people with firearms. Which side is more dedicated to liberty?

OOPS! I just checked the Search feature, and saw where Alan ran a thread about that article. Apologies for the "dead horse" moment.

Part of me has this evil hope that Bush wins and the liberals go nuts. It would really show the country what that side of the aisle is made of, and the ensuing violence coupled with the reality check would remove these violent, dangerous, idiots from the voter roles.

You could offer an invitation to go shooting with you whether or not he ends up buying anything for himself.
I'd agree here. Tell them that they should take a gun safety course of some sort, even if it's just you taking them to the range. It would help to show that gun owners and guns are not inherently evil. And it means one less person who would treat the gun without respect, possibly injuring or killing someone.

this flash animation (which is just typical tin-foil anti-republican nonsense).
If that website is telling the truth, the Republicans could do horrible, mean, conservative, things, like elect Katherine Harris President!

Could be the lib in question fears an invasion by the extremist Moos-i-lims. After all, Bush keeps attacking them, which only makes them madder. That fine young man, John Kerry, would have a peace summit at Camp David, and then we'd all have peace. Except for prayer five times a day...and sharia law...and burkas, and so forth.

Interesting thing is that some time back the friend saw my NRA car sticker and made comments about how they had best be careful as I am an NRA member. I muttered something to the effect that "Yeah, but I haven't shot my quota of kids today." Sorry, but just couldn't catch it before it got out of my mouth.

Re: "It would help to show that gun owners and guns are not inherently evil."

Actually I tend to think that their buying a gun under these circumstances would reinforce the idea that others are the same, also buy guns on emotional heat and are dangerous, too.

mec and carebear,

Do you have some references for the militia-liberal types? Would love to just drop it on a few liberal friends and point out that conservatives don't have the corner on marginal types.

cracked butt'

The comment about the union went over my head at about 30,000 feet. What does that refer to?

Guy,

I was referring to a thread a bit ago about some posters here attempting to post on the democratic underground board. They posted links to some threads, some of which referred to the DU wacko's fears of an upcoming civil war and how they're scared because "they (we) have all the guns".

I'd have to search, probably under DU in legal or roundtable to find it.

Of course - had to watch the flash - i'm not affraid to watch "opposite" propoganda... (hey it DOES work both ways...)

Either way you look at it - the real message in my eyes... was....

this harris chic was so bad and evil - the voters voted her into congress...

ROFLMAO.

sorry couldn't resist.

If ... IF.... someone could CONTROL 58000 votes... do ya think there might have been a BIT more of a hub-ub about it? especially w/ the "LOSS" being so close?

I still shudder to think of our country run by Gore...

hey - who is to say tho... Bush - i like him - he's a real person in my eyes... but he's smarter than they rekon.... since he seems to always surround himself w/ even smarter people.... a trait i actually admire... but still a trait which could make him as corrupt as a....er... uhm... politician? <heh>

duh

Quit trying to read between the lines and vote for who makes ya feel fuzzy....

that way you don't have to worry about all the CRAP that DOES go on behind the scenes.... that would totally unrail your sense of empowerment.

This year will be no different and maybe even worse than last election's ... unless buy some miracle - someone wins by landslide.... I am still not wanting to think about it - as i get ready to vote on tuesday.

life goes on and kerry wins....i guess i better start saving pennies for my guns.... but the rest of the world will likely stay the same... since he's mostly unwilling to actually cause a swell in a wave.... let alone make a POINT or do something... well - unless its popular... then he'll bend all hell to get that passed....

if there is equal or close to equal from either side... status quo.... heh... MAN its hard to be a poli in this day and age.... all these people divided... oh wait... thats bush's fault too... <sigh>

whatever =)

lets hope all the people they didn't poll go out and say YA for WHOEVER... if just to avoid last elections crap....

my vote is for Bush - in Texas - which makes it nearly useless... but hey - maybe i can contribute to the "popular vote" so that they can't say - XX won by popular vote.... but he lost by electoral....

some thread on here did an excellent review of why we have an electoral procedure.... and i completely agree w/ it... even if it doesn't work out in "my" favor... basically - if it was just popular vote... we'd all be screwed since most dems lifelines are in populated cities and want hand outs... (its My Opine - don't debase it w/ why i'm wrong... it will do no good)..

that or they want to be tough on crime and think of really wack ways to show it. (get rid of all guns then there won't be crime! (thats right up there w/ wack all blacks and our prison's will be empty.... got no problem w/ blacks - but stats say they are a major player in the prison system... so obviously we should just kill/export whatever all of em and then we'd be crime free... ya right... <sigh> Better watch out hispanics... yer next! <if you see the rediculousness of these statements... then you see the same w/ how it applies to guns....>))

bleh - either way - i do NOT expect this election to be actually decided on election day... rofl

J/Tharg!

Maybe this thread should be over in legal/political? Moderators?

Tharg,

Is it true that Kerry says that Bush is responsible for depriving voters of California of their fair share of moonlight with the lunar eclipse last week?

As my wife says about her childhood situation "If the cat had kittens, I'd be blamed."

Good! Any way that we can teach people that the gun is not something to be feared is positive.

I've often pointed out to left liberals that they should oppose weapons bans/restrictions because they shouldn't want the only ones to have guns to be the Bush/Ascroft crowd.:D

I checked out the flash video and am wondering whether it is necessary to be one of the initiated to understand the point.

Are they saying that all or a majority of felons would have voted for Gore, that Gore is a favorite of criminals? Don't they think nasty evil gun owners would fall into this class?

Are they saying that all people with the same surname as felons are minority/repressed groups and would be disenfranchised? (Black coworkers here in Xerox are named Mitchell, Rogers, etc.)

Are they saying that all people with the same DOB as felons belong to this class?

Did they miss that maybe this was a triple check on the same people?

What were the (obviously) wimpy, ineffectual Florida Democrats doing all this time?

Puzzled in San Ramon, CA.

You guys are on the wrong track with the flash thing. You're not supposed to analyze it for crying out loud. You're supposed to be whipped into a non-thinking animal frenzy!

:D

Jeeze. I nominate the Katherine Harris animation for what a good friend of mine calls 'The Non-Sequitur Olympics" :)

Yeah, you're supposed to be thrown into a seething frothing spittle flying rage. Whassa matter you?

Offer to help him shop

Nobody, not even an apoplectic liberal, should have to buy their first gun alone. The dilemma you'll have to wrestle with is: Do you steer him towards firearms that'll help him to learn to enjoy shooting, and thereby change his viewpoint, or do you pick out the guns you've been wanting for yourself, which you'll buy off him for a song when he calms down? ;)

I'll second GRD's comments. The far Left is hysterically terrified of Bush et al. They live in genuine fear that Bush will complete his grand plan to become a tyrranical dictator and herd them into concentration camps. No kidding - we even had one show up here on THR and express that fear. They are increasingly saying "I hate guns, but looks like I'll have to buy one soon...".

The Left is scared. Really scared. Terrified. Non-sequitors abound, held as unquestionable fact.

"Why do you feel you NEED that AK-47 and AK15(???) Baba?" This from someone who owns an SKS
Stick a 10-round magazine in your AK clone and then have him explain the difference between your AK and his SKS.
