Lightest recoiling 9mm?

Here are a few attributes off the top of my head that help to lessen "felt-recoil":

• Heavy weight
• Long barrel
• Wide (side-to-side) grip
• Low bore axis

One 9mm in particular that has all these attributes, that I have a lot of experience with and can recommend whole-heartedly is the classic and proven Beretta 92. Good luck with your search!

Any 9mm is going to have some recoil. You can't cheat Mr. Newton. ;) Generally, though, a heavy steel gun is going to have the least felt or perceived recoil, if the weight is not excessive for your wrist and hand. The CZ75, Browning Hi-Power and steel-frame "Third Generation" Smith & Wessons are all excellent. While I generally don't care for compensated pistols, your situation might be a use for them. You can have the pistol of your choice Magna-Ported or purchase a Glock 19C.

I own and have owned MANY MANY guns...

Light recoil 9mm.

I have a Stoeger Cougar, which is really the lightest shooting pistol I have ever fired. It actually kicks less than many .380s. With the rotating barrel, it has very little barrel flip and Academy Sports sells them for around $400. The .40 S&W kicks about the same as most 9mm pistols. If you look up the web site "the best 9mm" you can read up on most of the popular less expensive 9mm pistols. http://www.best9mm.com/

Hope this helps, you already got some of the best advice in previous post. Good luck with your search.

HK P7s are very soft shooting for their size. It is quite easy to accurately rapid fire one. Probably has something to do with the gas operated delayed blowback system.

The Ruger P95 has a nice heavy slide and a linkless cam that is supposed to make the recoil more of a push than a snap. It's still fairly light in weight overall as well.

+1 for the Cougar - unbelievably low recoil - Very easy & comfortable & to shoot
Extremely reliable (2000+ flawless rds fired)

The weight of the gun and a comfortable grip that maximizes surface area in YOUR hand is your best bet for taming recoil. Don't buy into the low bore axis crap. I've owned everything from Glocks to H&Ks to 1911s. The bore axis height doesn't change perceived recoil at all. A Glock with a low bore axis that doesn't fit your hand well will have more perceived recoil than something with a higher bore axis that fits your hand better.

With that said, take a hard look at the H&K P30. There isn't a more comfortable gun out there. With the interchangeable side panels and backstrap you can fit an already ergonomically superior gun to your hand for an even better fit. A 9mm P30 would be a great gun for your situation. At $850 it's not cheap, but H&K makes the best polymer guns in the world IMHO. They offer unmatched reliability with great shooting characteristics. You really can't go wrong with a H&K.
