At 1000 yards? Lol well I guess I wouldn't doubt it. So I think I'm going to notch out part of the trigger guard in this stock, and just use the bottom metal of the mosin as the back part of the trigger guard.

Updated pics? I'm following this closely, I'm thinking of a Mosin in the next few days.

Haven't been home for the last three weeks, been the care-giver for my Grandmother in the absence of my Uncle. But I can try to get some. I left off with narrowing the stock and comb. The bolt-forward part needs to be narrowed a bit and contoured a little bit to make more ergonomic, but other than that, all that's left is inletting and barrel channel.

Just to let you guys know, I now have access to locally grown black walnut trees, but would need a while to season them. Something for y'all to consider.

Black walnut is great looking stuff, I've got a bunch of it as well. Not too hard to work, either. If you want any more specialized or fancy woods, PM me. I've got a huge warehouse not too far from me and they carry pretty much every kind of common or exotic wood you can find. They have some really nice pieces, too. Shipping would probably cost a ton, which is the only problem.

Slowly but surely... I'm thinking about setting up a business to deal with strictly bolt rifles... Lol. Doing a couple Mosin trigger jobs for a couple friends today (free lol) Doing these stocks, and some accurizing... Out to look into getting my FFL and getting a business going.

I'd be interested in one of those stocks and its extended magazine if you ever made a commercial venture out of it. That is SWEET

Thank you, HavelockLEO, I just gotta get around to getting out to harbor freight. I might just have my gunsmith inlet it for me, though, just for the sake of expediency, he said it was $90 bucks for the job, a price I'm willing to pay to see if the design will work out at all.

and its extended magazine

I'm going to be picking up a welder here pretty soon, which also means I can start working on the bedding block and could possibly start work on an extended magazine. I'd love to figure out a method to make it double-stack though.

I wouldn't venture into the magazine if I were you. Datamancer already has a working version, I don't know when it will be released, that extends it to 10 rounds. People have tried to make the 20 round Lahti magazines fit the rifle, which are double stacks that narrow to single stack, but unfortunately they are too wide for the receiver.

I'm gonna be working on a double stack, completely different than Datamancer's. Though, since his is already works... I don't know. LOL. I wanna make something that doesn't stick out of the bottom of the gun for a mile, ya know, gotta have that "clean" look.

I'll try to see if I can dig up some of the threads on it, Turtlephish. It was an interesting try, but the short answer is that the Lahti mag conversion is impossible.

Nothing is impossible. Just takes a lot of work to make it happen. If I had a TIG welder, I could probably rig up something to the receiver for a double stack. Only problem is I'd need an FFL to do it for anyone else.

Heres some of it:

There are 2 things I am running into with this project so far. I would need to widen the receiver to accept the magazine. Some told me that the interrupter would have to be lose, but I believe that if the rifle is using a magazine that negates the purpose of the interrupter. So that first part can be handled if I can be sure that the safety of the rifle isnt at risk by removing metal from the lower part of the reciever.

Second issue is the magazine needs to be opened up more on top for the locking lugs to pass through the magazine. This is the part that truly is giving me the most trouble. I cant think of a way to have the magazine be wide enough for the rounds to get picked up by the bolt but also stay in the magazine. I am going to have to brain storm like crazy on that part.

I have Been trying to accomplish this for years..Here is what I have learned:The Mosin receiver is very narrow where the bolt strips the rounds from the single stack box mag.:The Mosin relies on the spring loaded ejector [Edit}to hold the cartridges in the box mag and has no mag lips.:In order to add mag lips to a detachable mag{Needed or the rounds would squirt out when detached}The bolt lug that passes thru the mag lips when it strips the round will have to be narrowed....a lot!...The mag in the picture you posted are Finnish Lahti 26 mags that are double stacked/single feed and wont even begin to enter the Mosin with out some major surgery on the receiver. Not saying it can't be done...But I would love to see that receiver on that middle picture to see how they did it...something tells me it has been heavily modified[opened up] to get the Lahti mag in it.

The way I was thinking was making a mag that goes from double- to single-stack, while still making use of the disruptor. The magazine would probably have to be loaded with stripper-clips still, but there's more ammunition than normal.
