Well i'm a couple days away from week 5 being on backorder for the Taurus Tracker .22 I put 50% down on back in mid December.

I ordered it at a new gunshop that opened about 5 miles from my house so I'm trying to give them some business so they hopefully stay open. This is keeping me from cancelling the order and trying to get it at another shop or online.

I was going to buy the thing with the idea that I'd practice DA trigger pulls for two or three months before getting a GP100....when I put the money down the dude said it should arrive in two days.....well after 3.5 weeks I decided to cut to the chase and ordered a GP100 which arrived earlier this week.

Still really want it though for cheap range fun.

What's the longest you guys waited on backordered guns?

What's a reasonable time to wait before giving up and seeking it out online.

7-14 days for me has been the norm. Maybe the distributer the gun shop is using has it back ordered to the factory. Ask the dealer about that. He or she can give you an answer with one phone call.

It's been a long long time, probably over ten years.

I ordered a Ruger #1 standard rifle in 22 Hornet and waited close to a year. There was no down payment involved as I was on very good terms with the dealer,
multiple orders for better grade guns, odd combinations ect, payment on full on delivery.

Seems as though Ruger only did certain models, calibers at certain times, so I waited.

A friend told me about a nice used one down near Houston, and I was going to go down and take a look, but first went by my local dealer to see if he could cancel the order if I decided to pick up that one.

When he saw me he said I have something for you and brought out my Hornet. At least it saved me a 400 mile round trip, plus I had a NIB gun at just a little more cost than what they were asking for the used model.

I have waited 6-8 months on several hard to find models over the years, but the wait has always been worth it and the anticipation, priceless.

Over a year.....Browning is famous for introducing new guns and waiting to see how much interest there is before going into production. In the long run it was worth the wait.

Damn.....hope I don't have to wait 6-12 months
They said all their distributers are backordered on them so it must be at the factory.

I thought the Tracker was a popular line for Taurus so I'm hoping they start pumping out some new ones and I get it before some of those really long wait times you guys' mentioned. He also said they've been backordered on Taurus Judges so maybe the factories are too busy making those to get me my Tracker.

I waited about four months for my Springfield GI model. They were all over regular gun shops at the time but I ordered mine through a police-only dealer at a special price, so I had to wait.

3 days for my Bushmaster shorty, they had just run out of 30 round mags. for .223 and the 22LR ciener kit. :(

I guess I've been lucky. Of the 20+ guns I own I have special ordered two - a CZ-75B SA and a SA M1 Garand.

Both came in to the shop I ordered them from the next day for the Garand and 2 days for the CZ.

I think it was four years for my Shiloh Sharps... we got caught in a period of big change there ...

I waited 9 months for a screw to the grip of a Taurus 92 AFS. I finally broke down had 2 machined by a local smith then sold it as parts are unavailable. If this production problem has extended to NIB weapon systems, I would seriously reconsider doing business with them. After 6-8 weeks wait if they dont have it I would move on. You can overnight anything anywhere in the world.

Going on 3 years for Kimber KPD pistols...I think I placed my initial order at the 05 Shot Show. Been so long I forgot.

I think that gun is a pipe dream for Kimber. I never thought it made sense anyway.

So far 1 1/2 months. But then again, I knew before I placed the order that it would take Springfield six months to build my Custom Carry. Doesn't make the wait any easier though.

I'm also waiting on a CMP Garand. Who knows how long that will take?

2 weeks to get consecutive # on Ruger Vaqueros. Ordered 2 pair. Anything I ever ordered came pretty quickly. If I knew the mfg was that far behind, I would look elsewhere.

Dunno about a gun, but I've had two belts on order from Rafter gunleather since 10/8/07.

They said it would be four weeks from the order date.

Must be the new math.
