Looking for a comfortable 9mm subcompact for CCW

I'll never shoot 70 rounds in a SD shooting besides I only have 4 mags(ps you forgot that draw back $50 mags)

I certainly agree with that. But I typically shoot 200 rounds when I go to the range to practice.

ya but the grip is magic.makes the trigger many % better than K9 and doubles as slide release

I haven't shot one, but everything I've read suggests the same -- that the P7 trigger is excellent.

Just read the original post.

EMP !

Slim, short, reliable, accurate, easy to shoot fast with control, great trigger and sights, etc, etc. Love mine, and I'm not a big 9 fan.

I like it better than my Kimber Tactical Pro 9MM, and it's pretty danged nice. I would sell the Kimber first, if that tells you anything. :)

It had the smallest, flattest on on.

I'm on hold, at the moment, until I have the oportunity to try out an EMP. I will never forgive myself if I don't at least wait until after a personal examination. I'm sure it will shoot better than me, so my main focus will be on how it feels in my had, and how well it points for me.

I have a police equipement place in my city that said that I could get one for under 1K.

I am mostly interested in this gun, even if I don't carry it, because I've wanted a 1911 style pistol for some time now, and the size and caliber of the EMP, along with the accuracy and recoil handling, will make this an excellent addition to my safe! :)

I went with a CZ 75 Compact 9mm and it is one fine weapon for me. But I also have a 125 Rottweiler down the street with a history of two prior altercations...so I switched to a Kimber CDP Ultra 2 in 45 acp and feel much more comfortable with 230 JHPs on board...that will stop an aggrevated Bowzer....

I just bought a Kimber 5" 1911 all stainless in 9mm today, it seems like its going to be a very accurate pistol, being full size, there is hardly any recoil, it has a decent trigger and a very tight slide to frame fit.

Kahr CW-9.
Great trigger, accurate, reliable, lightweight, easy to conceal, stainless and polymer, $400!!

Sounds like a winner to me!:D

Again, I'm starting to move away from the "how small can I get one" to the "how much fun will it be when I will, 99.9% of the time, be shooting at inanimate targets". Thanks for the insights guys!

http://www.goldenloki.com/ammo/gel/9mm/gel9.htm What ever you choose for concealed carry or even home defense load it with frangible bullets A 2.1" x 5.0" hole in the bad guy is going to kill him and if you touch it off in your bedroom you don't have to worry about accidently killing one of your neighbors if you miss.At three to five dollars per cartridge they aint cheap. The only ones I ever shot for fun were 7.62x39 in my sks, using a 10 gallon heavy plastic pickle bucket filled with water as a target. There are not words to describe it, the bucket will end up in several dozen pieces and there will be a rainbow for a few seconds afterwards.Maybe not as awesome as tannerite, but the highlight of a days shooting in the desert.

Take a look at Glock26, 10 rds 9mm in a very small gun.
Or I you need .45acp to feel comfortable then a Glock 36 SF (small frame) will be fine for you.
For CCW I'll only trust a Glock, no manual safety and probably the most reliable pistol.
And you don't have to worry about rust :)

Glocks don't point well for me at all. My natural grip, when holding a Glock, means that I have to point my wrists down too much. In a panic situation, I may not have time to aim and a bullet could go flying right over the perps head and travel dangerously who knows where.

Thank you for your input, though!

Right now, I plan on doing nothing until I am able to get an EMP in my hand to test how it feels.

My carry gun is a XD 9 Subcompact. It conceals well and is as accurate as anything I've shot. I looked at quite a few and bought the XD. It is quite comfortable to shoot and I haven't noticed any adverse recoil.

With Summer approaching...I usually go with my 642 in a Mika pocket. A recent addition to my "buy a gun a month" was the G26. I actually like it...but need to find a good, high rise, OWB holster for it. It really is too thick for IWB and too large for pocket carry. I may just break down and buy the Ken Nulls Gibralter Speed Scabbard holster for it and be done with it:

It is $ 135 but should just be the ticket for an OWB G26 carry.

This is an ASP conversion of a S&W Model 439. It's about halfway between my P7 and a PPK in size, and much smoother than either; the whole gun is melted, so very comfortable to have in the hand or on the belt. The S&W 3913/3914 are the more available (and much more affordable) equivalents, and were probably derived from the ASP design. They are worth a look.

I think my "close second", at this point, is the CZ Rami. Being a person who has access to wood working tools, and having the skills to make something look good (I built a custom fretless Bass a couple years ago), I may purchase some nicely figured walnut slices and make that Rami look even better, . . . . if I went that direction, that is.

An interesting bit of information. My brother bought the Rami that I had been eyeing at the gun store, so good for him, bad for me, . . . . yet in a way an excellent oportunity to try it out to see if I would have liked it anyway. My brother loves guns from that area of the world, so the Czech gun suited him well. Depending upon how I like it tonight, I will have more to go on when I purchase. :)
