Hey all. I have spent most of my time on the high-road chatting about auto-loaders and revolvers, but I've always wanted to get into the rifle game with something larger than a 22.
I'm trying to find out what it would take to get a good, scoped mosin nagant. From what I can see, I can get the gun with irons for around $100, but when I start looking at scope options, things get very complicated.
My initial idea was to go all replica, and put together a WW2 rifle with a PU mount, but buying the gun already made increases the price significantly ($500 +). I don't have the tools to do the work myself, and would probably be in the same range if I bought the parts and had a gunsmith set it up. I've found the scopes with mount from $150-300, and would need to buy a bent bolt handle, which should run around $50.
Now I'm looking to see if anyone here has had a good experience with alternative mount options. While I'm not opposed to spending the money to get the gun I want, I'm not going to discount my other options.
