loudest gun you own?

nagant m44.. but since it's a deep boom, it doesn't hurt the ears as much as the sharp crack of an ar-15 or a .357mag.

.357 Magnum with 125gr over a compressed load of 22gr of W296/H110 with a magnum primer usually gets a "*** IS THAT!" from people at the range. My M44 and M95 also get some side glances.

As somebody else said somewhere sometime ago.
"Unless you were on the Enola Gay there isn't anything worse than a Ruger Revolver in 30 cal carbine"
Forget to put your ear muffs on just once and I can guarantee you'll never forget again. The pain alone will see to that.

my mosin 91/30. that just might be topped by my sp101 with full house loads; touch one of them off near a truck or a wall and there is one heck of a concussion wave!

Mosin M38 - loudest I've ever shot. Folks at the range with dinky foam earplugs didn't like it much. Really neato muzzle flash :)

Taking my Mosin 91/30 to the range tomorrow for a first time shoot. I was at the range with my AR-15 doing some plinking and the guy next to me (indoor range) had an M44 and another further down had a .44 Mag revolver.

It went something like this: pow, pow, bang, pow, pow, pow, bang, KABOOM!, stares...

Man that thing was loud and the flame makes me giggle just thinking about it. Tomorrow is Sunday and there's a church across the street. Oddly enough the after-church crowd is one of the biggest customer bases at that store/range. Can't wait to rattle some blue-haired old ladies :)

fr-8

i was lucky i got a model 1891 mosin... the one with the loooooooong barrel. its quieter than my xl7 in .30-06

Since so many people have mentioned Mosins, Have any of you tried the tried and true surplus FMJ 7.62x54R back to back with modern US made ammo? The difference in volume is very surprising. With Russian 147gr silver tip FMJ, it has a beach ball sized muzzle flash, and the deafening roar typically associated with the shorter-barrelled Mosin Nagant carbines. With Winchester 180gr SP, my M38 has a tiny muzzle flash, and about the same report as my 20" bbl Mossberg 590 shooting bulk pack birdshot. Now, don't get me wrong, that's not exactly quiet, but compared to the stuff from the spam can, it's a firecracker.

To alll of you mentioning Mosin Nagants... :D

Speaking of Mosin reloads, where can I get new brass for a reasonable price? The only ones I have are my own empties from new Winchester "white box." The only online ones I can find are way too expensive or always out of stock. It's cheaper to buy a full box of ammo and just use that compared to purchasing new.

You need to wait and find PPY cases. I have no current source, but I paid ~$60/100 a while back and have loaded my current batch of cases successfully 4 times each now.

My Mosin-Nagant M44. The blast sets off car alarms in the parking lot behind the range. I don't take it on weekends, weekdays only.
