M77 mark 1 stock

I've got a Ruger m77 mark 1 .22-250. It's got the wood stock on it and I have been trying to find a rubberized stock for it. I don't want one that is hollow at the butt because they feel flimsy to me. Does anyone know if the mark 2 stocks fit the mark 1s?

No such thing as a 77 MK I Ruger. I think you are describing one of the 1st generation 77's. They are generally referred to as the tang safety models. The MK-II came out in 1992.

There are very few options for synthetic stocks for any versions of the Ruger 77 rifles, especially the older tang safety models. The high end companies such as Brown Precision and McMillan are the only ones that I'm aware of that ever made a synthetic stock for your rifle. They would probably still have the molds and I'd think they could make one.

It MIGHT be possible to modify a MK-II stock and make it fit an older rifle. I just don't know. I've never ran across anyone who has tried it. I do know that McMIllan lists a different stock for that rifle.

I have an M77 (Mk I) with a McMillan stock. What a difference from the original wood stock. While expensive, it really made a difference that was ALL good. I had the work done a few years ago, so you'll have to check with McMillan to be sure they still make them.

Correction: Mine is a Bell & Carlson stock.
