I am printing out the targets right now and getting ready to head out the door. I planned on loading some 9mm, but I didn't have a conversion kit for the RL 550B. Borrowed one from a friend. Looked at the die set a guy gave me, it doesn't have the decapper in the sizing die! So screw it, I found enough for me and Shakespear to go out and go shooting. Someday I will reload 9mm. Someday...:banghead:
It'll be over Monday. After that it'll just be a bunch of teeth gnashing and bragging. I can't wait to see what the April match will be. Next time, I'm gonna scan and e-mail my targets.
I took an old TFLer and his wife out with me for this match. My wife was unavailable today. Anyway, Shakespeare, his wife Drama Freak, and I shot my Colt 1911 .45 ACP stock and my Taurus PT92C 9mm stock. I must say that Shakespeare is a horrible shot. He does the old "anticipate the shot jerk" so bad that his first 6 or 7 shots with the 1911 pegged the target stand! It is a good thing he fixed it from last time he center punched the target stand and that he is going to fix it this time or I might have been upset! Drama Freak on the other hand did excellent with the 9mm. She ended up shooting much better than me with it for score, I got 2nd, and Shakespeare finished a distant 3rd. I barely edged out Drama Freak with the 1911 and once again Shakespeare finished a dead last. I find that for myself I have to really work on patience with the handguns. I can shoot a rifle all day long, but with a handgun I just want to do quick double taps.
Overall it was a fun day. Here is an old shooting picture of us. I am kneeling in the front. Shakespeare is standing on the left, that is my wife to the right of Shakespeare, and in the middle with the redish hair is Drama Freak. The other two were part of our church group when we went on our church group shooting outing a couple years ago.
And is Shakespeare upset that his wife out shot him? Maybe deep down inside. The only consolence I got out of her beating me is that I did better than her with the rifles.
It may also be time to post a reminder in the General discussion forum to get those targets in and let everyone know where to look for the scores. It took me a while to find this thread when it was moved.
mine went in yesterday. oh well, i figure you guys would like to see what a bhp out of the box shoots like, i did put pachmayrs on it but i don't like them, too bulky i think.
only have the 9 so thats all i sent, forgot to note that it was one (right) handed slow fire,
are we supposed to be shooting these slowfire, btw?
Are you still waiting on more entries? If so I'd suggest you stick to your guns and announce the winner from the entries you have received thusfar. Send the rest to file 13 as they arrive in your mailbox. Not my match though.
FYI, the targets on the walls of my office are qualification targets. The B-27 is my target from the academy. It was a much better and challenging course. The first 18 rounds are fired from the 25 yd line 12 right handed and 6 left handed. The rest are fired from decreased distances with the last 10 fired from the 5 yd line 5 from each hand.
The other is my most recent qualification. We've changed to the FBI Q-course. It is much easier. There are only 5 rounds fire from the 25 yd line. At the 10 yd line there are 20 rounds fired in 4 round strings from holster. I have to resist the urge to shoot the hole thing rapid fire. I can't resist making my 100's into smiley faces.
Yeah I am very anxious to see the results. Did the targets have to be in by the last day or post marked by the last day? Either way, mine was e-mail and it is in. I want to know how we did!
Have to remember that ROTR is going to tabulate the scores then send them to Bedlamite to post on his website. We must be patient.....still teh suspense is killing me........
Sorry guys. I did not make it to the post office before it closed on Fri. Scores WILL be posted Monday evening.
There seems to be a concensus to stick with the last day of the month as a hard deadline for entries. Also, things are settling down in the ROTR household, so future months will be tighter.
Please get out and take your frustrations out on April's target
