Had to smile at that one! I use to use 3' tubes too......my ceiling above my press is only 7' high though. so my upper support was a hole in the ceiling....that was the lateral support! But then jmorris demoed his kit-made 3D printer, and how it could make cheap electric collators. The rest is history.....

I bought one commercial one....the Hornady pistol bullet feeder, but it was so dang inefficient, that I had to spend a lot of time and effort just to make it empty faster.....still use it, but my other presses all have 3D printed ones, 4 so far, and they work better and are so stinking inexpensive. Just have to buy a printer....;) then it just keeps on giving.....I'll probably print one more.
One the WAY! hope I bought the right one. Got the grey filament

I didn't know those were so inexpensive. I thought they cost a lot more than what I just priced. I'm still not buying one, I just don't have the need for it.
But it's nice to know they are so affordable.

Good luck with yours, and have fun with it.

I was surprise too! $200 printer & $10-$20 for 1 kilograms of filament.

I’m going to teach my son about CAD/CAM or whatever the software is these days

Fusion 360, Freecad, Blender, Onshape, solid edge, solidworks, tinkercad are a few. Also many helpful 3d printer groups. I have been printing for over 7 years.

I spent 40 years doing 2D Autocad.....got my printer and had to learn the 3d side. :)

TylerR uses DesignSpark Mechanical, so in the interest of collaboration I downloaded that FREE software and it's nearly as powerful as Autocad and doesn't cost $4000, and in many way easier to learn, except for me maybe, having to unlearn to learn another way. I think its one of the best for 3D printing. Bill, you ought to check it out.....never hurts to learn one more......;)

You’ll need a CAD program if you want to modify or create a model. Then you feed it through a slicer. Your first few prints should be the test prints for nozzle temperature and print speeds for the filament you bought. It’s kinda like reloading, there are a lot of variables, check that, there are even more variables than reloading.
Then there’s monitoring the print itself, which can take hours. It’s a useful tool but not without its nuances.
I’ve been playing with OnShape for the iPad, but haven’t decided if I want to purchase yet.

I use cura, prusaslicer and orca

Yeah, the Ender 3 has evolved a bit. One of the things I was influenced by back when I purchased my CR-10V2 was the trussed support that make the verticals triangle strong. Was a little nervous about keeping things level and vertical.....really I knew very little, but in my building contruction trade we trussed things to make them stronger and more stable.

This new Ender still has only the uprights, but they are a lot more substantial than the old original Ender 3's. But, still, buying my second printer I want to see what a box frame is like so I bought the Ender 5 S1. I'm noti cing tradeoffs.....stable as hell, but also less open and easy to get access everywhere......we will see if I like it......the price was less than the last one, but more than this new Ender 3. I'm thinking either or will be just fine. ;)
