Marlin 336 sling

I want to or am going to put a sling on my 30-30 and have read a few stories about the front mount loosening or bending and one twisting the tube. Did the 336 ever come with a factory sling?

Honestly, if you manage to damage the tube while carrying the rifle slung, you are doing something seriously wrong. For its intended purpose the from sling attachment is fine.

Mass produced slings are fine. They work, and some are actually fairly well thought out. But, why not spend a bit more and get something custom? This fellow does really good work.

What many folks do is buy the forearm band or forearm cap that has the sling stud built to it.

Marlin used to sell a great leather sling. Ebay still has them show up.
