Marlin 980D ejector

Hi, I am a farmer since 92. Before that was a mechanic for 30 years, so I am pretty handy. Recently a friend dropped off a marlin 980D with 2 issues. One a broken stock, 8 inches of toe was missing. Replaced it with a piece from a donor stock. Second issue, gun wouldn't eject. The reason was a bent, ragged ejector spring. Got a new spring, installed it and it ejected a round but it jammed the mag. My question is does anyone have a picture of spring correctly installed? Know it rides in the bolt groove but should it extend beyond the bolt. If so, how far? Thanks
