Why is a man who shoots at people with a rifle always referred to by the media as a "sniper"? I thought being a sniper involved extensive tactical training, not just being a nut who kills 2 people in a "mass shooting"
If you have a handgun or shotgun, you're a "gunman" (even if female evidently). By the way, in this word defined by the media, where is the pronunciation emphasis, on the "gun" or on the "man" in "gunman"?
