Ya got to love mexico..they don't educate their own but..if the US fails to "educate" them about mexico..look out..

this is also going on in Colorado, and other states that have high latino student populations.

http://www.dailynews.com/Stories/0,1413,200%7E20954%7E2024346,00.html

my main concern is that the majority of street gangs in los angeles are illegals from mexico..now at least, they will be "educated".

The two countries are, de facto, merging, that's plain enough. That's what the elite wants. We can hope that we Americanize them before they Mexicanize us, I suppose, but that's going to be tough with aggressive pro-repatriation "La Raza" and "MeCHA" groups and so many left-leaning Americans avidly in support of multiculturalism. Nothing will be done until there is either rampant lawlessness that spreads widely beyond the ghettos and affects more of the middle class, until the typical taxpayer starts to figure out that all of this "welcoming" means a steady drain on his pocketbook, or until we start to experience Intifada-style terrorism.

It's been estimated that about 60 per cent of Los Angeles gang members are, in fact, illegal aliens from south of the border. About a third of all of our jail inmates are now illegal aliens. Don't expect the media to point these hard realities out very often.

It is estimated that at least 10% of the Mexican population now lives in the US. Most are illegals.

Something I found out rather shocking about Latinos is this. Some studies show that second and third generation Latinos generally do not do much better financially then their first generation parents. So, does that mean we have another minority (until around 2043) underclass that we have to deal with?

Also, many of these Latinos are criminals and I think that what can probably be expected is a significant upsurge in crime that will be fuel for the gun-grabbers to divest us our RKBA rights.

According to state figures, 23.6 percent of Latino students in the Class of 2002 dropped out of LAUSD high schools, compared with 22 percent districtwide.
Someone also needs a brush-up on their statistics interpretations... this "difference" would be significant how  :scrutiny: :banghead:

todo el resistance es futile, vosotros will be assimilitados... :D

Some 60 years ago, my grandfather was the principal of an elementary school in Austin, Texas. The students were almost all Latino. A notable percentage began First Grade with no ability to speak English.

After some discussion with the school board, the superintendant and the PTA, he implemented his program. The teachers for grades 1-3 were bilingual in English and Spanish, and the kids stayed with a teacher for those first three grades. If by the end of third grade some language difficulty still existed, they received intensive teaching of English during the fourth year.

His shcool had some 96% of the 6th graders continue on to Junior High School.

No consultants' studies were required. No additional funds were required. No "enablement" in law was required. Nobody from outside the local school district was needed to assist.

My conclusion is that today's system couldn't use my grandfather's idea because there were no consultants' studies required, nor additional funds needed nor new laws nor advisors from outside the local school district.

longeyes, imho, the elite doesn't give one whit about divisive social bullcrap except to use it to divide the masses against one another. They are not interested in turning America into a Spanish speaking nation. They are interested in using more and more open borders plus free-trade agreements such as NAFTA, FTAA and the WTO to whittle American salaries, benefits and small buisness profitability down to a nice weak level near what it's like in Mexico, right now.

I have it figured out. Let the Mexicans come here to work and we will go to Mexico and live like a king for $600.00 a month. Lots of Americans are living in Mexico.

The Mexican government knows our weakness and that is welfare in the
end they will bleed us to death with it.:banghead:

A Chilling Commentary on America's Future

Exclusive commentary by Frosty Wooldridge
Mar 23, 2004

An unarmed army invades the United States daily. While we spend billions of dollars protecting borders around the world, invaders carrying little more than the clothes on their backs march across the Rio Grande. Each day, according to U.S. Border Patrol estimates, an average of 2,000 illegal aliens cross into America. Their numbers exceed 10 million. They wreck havoc with our infrastructure, schools, language, jobs and medical facilities.

In Washington, DC recently, at an immigration-overpopulation conference, I was a member in the audience that heard former Colorado Governor Richard D. Lamm present a profoundly sobering speech, How to Destroy America.

During the conference, speaker after speaker enlightened the audience with facts on how fast the American Dream vanishes for average citizens. Speakers showed how
H-1B and L-1 visas ripped one million high tech jobs out of American worker’s hands. Another speaker told a packed audience how ‘offshoring’ and ‘outsourcing’ have cost over three million American jobs. Victor Davis Hansen, author of Mexifornia, explained how immigration was destroying California. Moments later, Lamm presented his eight-point chilling speech.

Lamm said, “If you believe that America is too smug, too rich, then let’s destroy America. No nation in history has survived the ravages of time. Arnold Toynbee observed that all great civilizations rise and fall, and that, “An autopsy of history would show that all great nations commit suicide.â€

“Here is how they did it,†Lamm said. “First, turn America into a bilingual or multi lingual and bicultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures. The historical scholar Seymour Lipset put it this way, “The histories of bilingual and bicultural societies that do not assimilate are histories of turmoil, tension and tragedy. Canada, Belgium, Malaysia, Lebanon—all face crises of national existence in which minorities press for autonomy, if not independence. Pakistan and Cyprus have divided. Nigeria suppressed an ethnic rebellion.â€

Lamm continued, “Invent ‘multiculturalism’ and encourage immigrants to maintain their own culture. Make it an article of belief that all cultures are equal. That there are no cultural differences! I would make it an article of faith that minority dropout rates are due to prejudice and discrimination by the majority. Every other explanation is out of bounds.â€

“We could make the United States a ‘Hispanic Quebec’ without much effort. The key is to celebrate diversity rather than unity. As Benjamin Schwarz said in the ATLANTIC MONTHLY: “The apparent success of our own multiethnic and multicultural experiment might have been achieved not by tolerance but by hegemony. Without the dominance that once dictated ethnocentrically and what it meant to be an American, we are left with only tolerance and pluralism to hold us together.â€

Lamm added, “I would encourage all immigrants to keep their own language and culture. Replace the melting pot metaphor with the salad bowl metaphor. It is important to ensure that we have various cultural subgroups living in America reinforcing their differences rather than as Americans, emphasizing their similarities.â€

“Fourth, I would make our fastest growing demographic group the least educated. I would add a second underclass, unassimilated, undereducated and antagonistic to our population. I would have this second underclass have a 50% dropout rate from high school.â€

“My fifth point for destroying America would be to get big foundations and business to give these efforts lots of money. I would invest in ethnic identity, and I would establish the cult of ‘Victimology’. I would get all minorities to think their lack of success was the fault of the majority.â€

“My sixth plan for America’s downfall would include dual citizenship and promote divided loyalties. Celebrate diversity over unity! I would stress differences rather than similarities. Diverse people worldwide are mostly engaged in hating each other—that is, when they are not killing each other. A diverse, peaceful or stable society is against most historical precedent. People undervalue the unity it takes to keep a nation together. Look at the ancient Greeks: “The Greeks believed that they belonged to the same race; they possessed a common language and literature; and they worshipped the same gods. All Greece took part in the Olympic games. A common enemy Persia threatened their liberty. Yet, all these bonds were not strong enough to overcome two factors…local patriotism and geographical conditions that nurtured political divisions. Greece fell. In that historical reality, if we put the emphasis on the ‘pluribus’ instead of the ‘unum, we can balkanize America as surely as Kosovo.â€

“Next to last, make it taboo to talk about anything against the cult of ‘diversity’. I would find a word similar to ‘heretic’ in the 16th century—that stopped discussion and paralyzed thinking. Words like ‘racist’ or ‘xenophobe’ halt discussion and debate.â€

“Having made America a bilingual--bicultural country, having established multiculturalism, having the large foundations fund the doctrine of ‘Victimology’, I would next make it impossible to enforce our immigration laws. I would develop a mantra: “That because immigration has been good for America, it must ALWAYS be good. I would make every individual immigrant sympatric and ignore the cumulative impact of millions of them."

Governor Lamm wiped his brow, “Lastly, I would censor Victor Davis Hanson’s book ‘MEXIFORNIA’. It exposes the plan to destroy America.â€

As a side note, Lamm did not discuss horrific numbers of diseases being imported into America from the Third World. In the past four years, 16,000 new cases of tuberculosis, 7,000 cases of leprosy, 100,000 cases of hepatitis and other diseases such as Exotic New Castle, Dengue Fever and Chagas Disease. Also not mentioned is America’s march toward adding 200 million more people by mid century. We are creating unsolvable problems with irreversible crises. The more extreme our numbers the more extreme our consequences.

No one applauded. A chilling apprehension rose like an ominous cloud above every attendee at the conference. Each American in that room knew that everything Lamm enumerated was proceeding methodically, quietly, darkly, yet pervasively across the United States today. Every discussion is being suppressed. Over 100 languages are ripping the foundation of our educational system and national cohesiveness. Barbaric cultures that practice female genital mutilation are growing as we celebrate ‘diversity’. American jobs are vanishing into the Third World as corporations immigrate the Third World into America—take note of California and other states—to date, 10 million illegal aliens and growing, fast.

Flash-back to George Orwell’s book, ‘1984’. In that story, three slogans are engraved in the Ministry of Truth building: “War is peace,†“Freedom is slavery,†and “Ignorance is strength.†It dawned on everyone at the conference that our nation and the future of this great republic are in trouble and worsening fast. An invasion of diseases, clashing cultures, languages, balkinization, mounting environmental dilemmas accelerate by the day. If this immigration monster isn’t stopped, it will rage across the United States like a California wildfire and destroy everything in its path, especially the American Dream.

I think we will see more Mexicans coming to this country as jobs from mexico are being shipped overseas. On cnbc one C.E.O for VF Co. said the only reason they make products in Mexica is if there is a problem with importing goods from overseas. He also stated only 7% of their products are made in the U.S. Look at where the cheap ammo is made.

The Aztlan and MEChA movements are alive and well inside my supermax prison - and bloody dangerous to those who don't understand these domestic and imported terrorists will probably go the route of the Palestinian terrorists.
The "balkanization" of America....interesting turn of phrase. Imagine, if the Civil War happened today - it wouldn't happen. The South would simply be allowed to "express themselves through self determination", and go thier way.....balkanization indeed.

Jungleman,

That would be $600 to live on and another $1,000 a month for personal security. Unless you look poor you are likely to be kidnapped or robbed. Gringos are fair game down there these days.

I'm not giving corporate interests a pass; they are, without doubt, a major part of the problem. But it's a bit naive not to recognize that the elites also include various leftwing special interest groups that embrace a new multicultural vision of America that would mean the subversion of our basic cultural and social and political values.

Unfortunately, the Americans in the middle who pay the bills for it all are caught between the Scylla of the amoral corporate bandits and the Charybdis of the open-border socialists.

7.62,

I don't know that no one cares but I've certainly wondered how many do and what they're willing to do about it. The Left has seized the language and pretty much forced those of us who are concerned to wear the invidious label of "racist." At some point that issue is going to have to be dealt with openly. It's not, of course, about race at all but about preserving our freedoms as laid forth in our seminal documents, freedoms available to all races and cultures. Will there be a counter-movement? Hard to say. It's really up to the younger people of this country to understand what's at stake, and given our increasingly escapist, narcissistic mass culture and the influence of leftwing academia it's difficult to posit a strong opposition to what we see happening. Then again, hedonists and academics may not prove to be the staunchest enemy if push comes to shove...

So, why don't we strike first and annex Mexico and make them the 52nd state after Puerto Rico?

Once they are under our Constitution then we can make a stab at cleaning up some of the more rampant corruption.

Interesting you single out Puerto Rico. I have a realy good buddy who lives in Kissimmee and has been there about 10 years.

Last time I talked with him (couple of weeks ago) he told me a move Puerto Rico expats to move into the Orlando area, buy houses, attend schools, register to vote, run for office, and all for the purpose of eventually gaining control of the county governmental structure. They intend to create an exiled community of Puerto Rico which has gained control of an entire metropolitian county. Seems their goal of complete control is something like 2010. The President of Puerto Rico has been to the Orlando area on a regular basis as the key speaker at political events and voter registration drives.

Sounds alot like LaRazza in terms of tactics if not objectives.

What would be interesting would be to compare what is happening to the Orlando area with what the Libertarians are doing in the Free State project.

My point is quite simple. Why not carve out another area of the US for domination. There are no consequences to be had other than eventual success.

Don't know where the flash will occur but there will be a flash.

My conclusion is that today's system couldn't use my grandfather's idea because there were no consultants' studies required, nor additional funds needed nor new laws nor advisors from outside the local school district.

I have to disagree with you on the basis that his program cost money to implement, hence it could be better spent teaching children important subjects intsead of a language they should already know.

The teachers for grades 1-3 were bilingual in English and Spanish, and the kids stayed with a teacher for those first three grades.

Bilingual teachers generally demand higher salaries. Also, a teacher can only speak one language at a time. This means teaching at 50% capacity, which takes away from the education of the children who know english.

If by the end of third grade some language difficulty still existed, they received intensive teaching of English during the fourth year.

Were the teachers working for free? If not, they were costing the school extra money.

There's a simple solution here, make english our national language. Besides saving millions in paperwork costs, it'll give immigrants an incentive to learn the language while getting rid of those who don't wish to put forth the effort. A lot of immigrants have come to this country throughout the years, and they didn't beg for extra instruction.

If the children can't pass the kindergarten entrance tests (in addition to proving citizenship of course) then they don't go to that school. It's not offensive to tell people that they have to obey the same rules as everyone else, it's simply the fair thing to do. It's not as if they're hanging up "no Latinos need apply" signs."

I think we'd all like to keep the whole damn thing, fix. Problem is, half this country seems not to believe in the seminal principles of America any more and we have to be realistic. If we try and stay unified and dispersed, we may very well end up being controlled by The Other Half. The realistic thing to do may be to consolidate our forces and attempt to control what we can. I still consider a war of secession or expulsion to be anything but farfetched.

The President of Puerto Rico has been to the Orlando area on a regular basis as the key speaker at political events and voter registration drives.

Puerto Rico has never had a president. They have a governor.

There aren't that many Puerto-Ricans in Florida. Trust me, I live here. I also am of Puerto Rican descent. Most Puerto Rican immigrants to the US live in New York. While there may be Puerto Ricans in Orlando, and there may be some in higher office, they can run for any office. They are US citizens.

The United States invaded and occupied Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is part of the United States and has been for a loooooooong time.

The United States gave Puerto Rican citizens US citizenship just in time to draft them for one of those pesky major wars we were involved in. They have fought under our flag. About 1/2 of the population wants independence. About 1/2 of the population doesn't.

You wouldn't know most people of Puerto Rican or Cuban descent who have been in the United states for more than a generation by looking to them or listening to them.

Please, don't mix the issue of illegal aliens with racist drivel.

“First, turn America into a bilingual or multi lingual and bicultural country. History shows that no nation can survive the tension, conflict and antagonism of two or more competing languages and cultures.

This argument is flawed as hell. 1. No nation in history has survived PERIOD. End of story. What is survival? 100 years? 1000 years? 5000 years? So far only the Egyptians count if you want to go to REAL longevity, and even they were conquered and conquered back. Egypt today isn't even populated by the same people who built the pyramids so they probably can't be said to survive either! This is pretty ridiculous.

It takes 2 to 3 generations on average for an immigrant group to learn a new language. There are STILL neighborhoods in the US where German and Italian immigrants from the turn of the century are raised in predominantly native speaking households.

I AGREE WE NEED TO ENFORCE ENGLISH EDUCATION, but I wouldn't panic if kids of recently arrived immigrants don't learn English. Your immigrant forefathers didn't learn it either, their grandkids did. They key is that languages need to be taught to young kids. Starting in pre-K. I attended a billingual school in Peru growing up. By 5th and 6th grade all of my Peruvian friends spoke English fluently and could read full novels in English and in Spanish. Waiting until later to teach kids a new language misses their key brain-development periods for language adquisition

CannibalCrowley, whatever additional costs there were, were trivial. In the 1940s, teachers of Latin descent typically spoke both Spanish and English. No big deal. And, given the era, most teachers of Latin descent felt good to be able to get a degree and have the job at all.

The inefficiencies could not have been as bad as you suggest, given the advancement rate. I'm mildly dubious that we have a 96% advancement rate, today, even among gringos...

Insofar as that fourth year, it wasn't an all-day-long-learn-English and skip everything else.

Kindergarten entrance tests? In the late 1940s? You're kidding, of course. :) Heck, in that part of Austin, there were few if any kindergartens at all!

What I know is that the concept worked. Further, per my grandfather's supervision of his school's budget, it cost an extremely small amount of money. Insignificant, when you consider the overall gain. Remember, all these people had just come out of the Great Depression and WW II. Back then, folks were still into the idea of "Use it up, wear it out; make it do or do without." That even held for school districts and for state government. What we accept as the usual way of spending money in our schools, nowadays, would have been seen as a total waste, back then.

Art

CannibalCrowley, whatever additional costs there were, were trivial.
My point is that the program cost the school money as opposed to not having it at all. These costs would be greatly magnified today for a number of reasons. It also sets a dangerous precedent. If one allows bilingual education through elementary, then soon enough people will demand that it be presented throughout high school.

This needs to be nipped in the bud ASAP. Declare that schools will teach in English only (for those who are U.S. citizens).

Mexicans are like everyone else. They've got their share of honest, hard working and productive members and like the rest of us, their lazy ne'er-do-wells. As for the kids, if you don't make it easy for them to learn and want to go to school, what do you propose? The gangs? Far better to assimilate them (and they do assimilate as I've many friends who trace their lineage to Mexico) than to alienate a segment of our population.

That "English only" was tried before on the Native Americans in an effort to destroy their cultural identity. Didn't work then and doesn't work now and we should know better.
