I picked up a Rossi M-92 in .480 Ruger in a trade recently. Pretty happy with the aquisition, it has a nice slick action, and good deep blue finish. I'm looking forward to working up some rounds that shoot well out of it. It is a fun little thumper to shoot for sure!

These came with fiber optic sights, which show up pretty nicely, but I really like a good set of peep sights on a lever (well, on all rifles actually...). The little red fiber optic on the front sight through a peep in the rear should work really well I think.

So, what are my options for adding peep sights to this thing? It looks like there is a skinner sight that mounts in the dovetail on the barrel. Has anyone put a william fire sight on a model 92. I imagine that you would have to drill and tap, but is there enough room for the sight so that it doesn't interfere with ejection?

I would prefer a firesight type sight in order to get the peep back a little further, and I don't really care for tang sights on a gun like this. But, I will probably go for the skinner sight if a williams sight isn't workable unless anyone has other brilliant ideas. Thanks for any advice anyone has on this!

I had the skinner rear sight on my Rossi .44 mag. It was an easy 5 minute install. I sold the rifle to a buddy of mine and he has put a few thousand of his reloads through it the range plus at least one deer season. The Skinner sight is still rock solid and doing its job.

I would put a Lyman receiver sight on it. You will have to drill and tap, but it is worth it. Peep sights are at their best when they are as close to your eye as possible. It is also easy to precisely sight in your rifle with these sights with the adjustment knobs. In addition, it has a quick adjustment feature that allows you to instantly move your sight for use with different loads. My Model 53 (32-20 on a 92 action) is pictured below with a Lyman sight on it.

plus 2 on the Lyman you can also get an XS that straddles across the top of the receiver....both require drilling and tapping.

If you have the bolt safety Nate Kiowa Jones makes a peep that replaces it. Kills two birds with one stone and doesn't require any d&t.
