Most Intimidating Gun Cocking Sound in HD Scenario

The old Steve McQueen movie Bullitt (best car chase ever, BTW) included a scene in which the bad-guy hitman painstakingly loaded his empty shotgun, and then painstakingly rolled down the rear window, before taking a shot at the hero pursuing him.

At present I'm teaching a retired Hollywood stunt woman to shoot. Like she said, All those years I shot guns but never shot "real" guns.

In years past Hollywood wasn't big on getting the details right, especially about guns.

For sound only, the cocking of an older single action revolver is pretty ominous. The multiple clicks do catch a persons attention when done somewhat slowly so each click is distinguishable.

I dated a girl years ago who kept an old mechanical credit card copier by her bed. (remember those?) It was sort of like a small metal clip board that used carbon paper.
The thing made a 'SLACK-SLACK' sound very similar to a shotgun being racked. Her father instructed her to use it if someone broke in. The plan was for to yell "I have a gun in here and I know how to use it." SLACK-SLACK. This bluff would probably work as most home invaders and rapists who target college girls don't prepair for serious armed resistiance.
