Most Reliable Guns

No, this is not a Glock post.

…..

What guns have you owned that far exceeded your expectations for reliability + low/no maintenance?
You kinda made a point there…

But I should also add my XDm’s and Shields ran flawlessly. So did my PPQ’s for the short time I owned them. My Glock 44 took a few mags to work right before the thousands of trouble free rounds. My Ruger 10-22 runs great when dirty but not my Ruger .22 pistols.

No, this is not a Glock post.

I just have to rave for a minute. I have a CMMG drop-in 22 conversion bolt, that has been just incredibly reliable. I'm totally amazed by it. I've been shooting it in a weekly league for going on two years now. 50-75 rounds per week. Every week. I don't think I have cleaned it in...I can't even remember. A year? It's completely filthy. At least a thousand rounds with not one single malfunction of any kind. Weather from 70˚ and rain to 0˚F, and everything in between. I've always run the cheap Federal 36 grain copper plated ammo (per CMMG recommendation.) I probably just jinxed myself, but...1k rounds in a rimfire with no malfunctions?

On a related note, I also run a Beretta 92 in that same league, and haven't cleaned that gun either. At least 1k rounds without a single malfunction. (115 grn Ball ammo.) Again, hope I didn't just jinx myself.

I'm so envious of your conversion, mine has been nothing but trouble. I've tried it in 3 different rifles with 3 different gas tube lengths, and run over 700 rounds of 5 different ammunitions. Even the 3 different CCIs gave me the same trouble. It's super fun when it runs but I've never gotten through a whole magazine without at least one jam. About half stovepipes and half the case gets stuck in the top of the action. It's been cleaned and lubed several times without helping. I ended up buying a savage 64 precision and love shooting it, but the AR platform is definitely fun.

My most reliable centerfire semi-auto handgun is my Browning Hi-Power Mk. II. Besides the regular trips to the range with me, with occasional cleaning between usage, I also use it as a trainer for new shooters. Rarely have run any kind of HP ammo through it but it's been a steadfast, reliable performer with any kind of FMJ ammo.

Another reliable and frequent companion to the range and in the field, is my Beretta Model 70S. For a rimfire semi-auto it's a solid and dependable pistol, day in day out, with every brand of .22LR ammo that I have put through it.

Similarly my Colt AR15 SP1 still delivers with no problems to speak of and with decent accuracy too, provided I do my part. The same thing applies to my Ruger 10/22. Even when it's dirty, with Wolf Match Target ammo, this rifle is lights out at 100 yards.

It's been awhile since I have used my shotguns but the two most tried and tested are my Mossberg Model 9200 semi and my Maverick Model 88 pump action. I broke in the Model 9200 by running 250 shot shells of all different brands and loadings (you name it, from buckshot, field loads, and slugs) and it never stumbled or missed a beat. Nary a problem of any kind. Could say the same of my Model 88.

Too many to mention over the years. Polystrikers are dull as dust, but they've heralded an era of remarkably reliable semi-autos. I no longer have any Glocks but, except for an early 23, the ones I had were stone reliable. My M&P has run like a sewing machine, but that's also true for every Ruger, CZ, and Sig pistol that's passed through my hands.

I shoot in a weekly steel speed shoot with 22 rifles and pistols. Any type of malfunction is costly time wise so reliability is key. I have had 100% reliability with S&W M&P 15-22 rifles and a Nelson 1911 conversion. Other shooters use Ruger Mk 22-45’s But my Nelson runs a little better in the long run. Almost everyone has gone to the S&W rifles.

Not counting single shot or double shotguns, which go bang every time, I can’t recall how many rounds my 870 and BPS shotguns have cycled and fired without a bobble over the decades.

All of my Glocks, Kimber 9mm and SA .45 1911’s, CZ 75’s and Ruger revolvers have fired countless shots without a bobble either.

I think it’s easier for me to find a gun that has bobbled than one that hasn’t. Less reliable gun/ammo combos include my Browning Auto-22 with Browning ammo, Ruger MkIV with Aguila SE, and a couple of my .38 Special and rimfire S&W revolvers with hard primers or selected rimfire ammo.

Stay safe.

S&W K-frame and L-frame revolvers

Had to think about this (in terms of auto pistols) and I don't really have any that I've deemed unreliable, although a S&W M&P-9 2.0 suffered two or three FTRBs the last time I took it out, which is strange, since it'd actually just been cleaned and lubed.

Every single one of my SIG P-series (DA/SA all metal) and 320s/365s have been flawless. I've got two West Germans, a 220 and a 226, that each have well north of 10K rounds through them. My trusty Beretta M9, likewise. And my old blued Colt Series 70 (knock on wood/fingers crossed) has never choked on anything.

I put my trust in SIG and Beretta (guess I'll throw in HK, though neither has seen the level of use as my SIGs and Berettas) totally.

Two Colt 6920s are my trusted ARs. A Mossberg 590A1 (hey, I don't think I've ever cleaned it) has been awesome.

Count me in with the morons who don't always clean their guns before and after every range trip. I might even count on a couple of them for something serious, though they might not have been cleaned after that last couple hundred rounds through the pipe. Strangely, I have a bit of real-world experience with all this, some earned in some of the most extreme environments on the planet. 'Course, given the choice (and the opportunity) I'll keep the firearms on my person cleaned and lubricated to the extent possible.

Any one I own ,I don't keep broken or unreliable tools ,goes for MY guns as well . Function , Fit, Accuracy and Form in that order .

Just a quick thought. Reliability and durability aren't the same thing. There are lots of guns that are amazingly reliable as long as they are kept reasonably clean and well maintained. There are others that will continue to function with very little care and when filthy or abused.

Well my Sig P220 and P226 have always been as reliable as you could possibly ask for. I don't remember having a malfunction with either gun.

Most reliable gun I ever owned was an Astra 400. I put a few thousand rounds through it over the course of 30 years. Mostly surplus Largo ammo and handloads in Super cases.

That gun never had a stoppage of any kind. Absolutely none. It would feed empty cases out of the magazine! It loved 158 grain semi wadcutters pushed by five or so grains of Unique.

It met its untimely end one day, as it tried to reproduce by binary fission. ( I was shooting CCI Largo ammo in it.) The rear half of the slide came back at me and whacked me in my left eye. My glasses saved my eye. All I got was a shiner.

Of course I immediately ran out and bought another one. ;)

I do the same kind of league, but I'm seeing a mix of M&P15-22s and CMMG converted 22s.

most reliable handguns hands down IMO are S&W-Ruger and Taurus revolvers . I own semi auto also but I always find revolvers to be flawless I have never had a problem with any I own . I have revolvers in 9mm , 38 super , 38 special, 357 mag , 44 mag , 45 auto rimmed , 454 Casull and 45/70 never an issue.

I was in the Army, my guns get cleaned. I had a H&K USP9 that should be indestructible in-service use for thousands of rounds. Most of my guns have never given me a problem.
