And believe me I have a lot of them, this 1989 .44mag.Mountain Revolver (not a Mountain gun!) which I carry in areas where there are bears. S&W was having a good day when they made this un. I can't find any MIM parts and NO lazer engraving! Incredibly accurate and not that bad a recoil thanks to the Ahrends grip.

A few of it's older relatives

model 60 5 inch and the 3" with the shaved bbl.

both are nice looking and very accurate.

Model 19-3, 6" barrel, purchased new for $125 in 1970 while in the USAF. The ad in Guns & Ammo hooked me. Owned and sold a number of S&W's in between but this was my first and favorite one. :)

Oh man... I don't know. Right now it's my 12-3 snubbie. Tomorrow, who knows, maybe my 65-3 or 36-1 heavy barrel. If I actually *had* an old lew horton 3" .44special 24, that would be it... always another one to try and find.

Well, I guess if I have to pick one, I'll take this one. It's at least representative of the ones I've got.

1955 M&P 38.

But for all the weaping, moaning and gnashing of teeth about the "new" ones, this one ain't too bad. Non-pinned, MIM parts, frame mounted firing pin, AND the lock.

21-4, Thunder Ranch 44 Special.

Howdy

I just have too many to choose one as my favorite. Just can't do it. One day one will be my favorite, another day another one will be my favorite.

However, this is my most treasured Smith.

New Model Number Three, chambered for 44 Russian. Shipped in 1882, refinished at the factory in 1965. And yes, I do shoot it.

That's almost as bad as asking which is my favorite kid. It's a close call and changes often but today I'm gonna go with my 696.

Is it O.K. to have more than one favorite?

4" 617 .22lr
4" 629 .44 Mag
3" 65 .357 Mag

All for different reasons. I have many others, but these three I can say are my favorites.

If I could only have one of the three, it would be the 629, but I think I'd rather slit my wrists than to choose between them.

P my favorite smith &wesson is my model 10-5 3" barrel. But my all time favorite revolver is my Colt Lawman mark III SNUBBY

Very hard question to answer. Of my many Smiths I would put my model 19-2 4 inch at the top. Follow closely by 13-2 4 inch 66-4 4 inch 686-2 4 inch and my model 10 4 inch heavy and finally my M&P pre-10 4 inch tapered barrel.
Here is the number one.

My two Favorites....The ones I sold and tend to replace.

Model 57 .41 Magnum (My Mod 57 had Wood display also) :(
Model 625-3 .45 Auto

I truly miss these guns......... :(

I have some safe queens, Model 29, Model 39, Model 36, Model 10, Model 19

I have a friend that has 3 Model 28 Highway Patrol...I am hoping he will sell them to me one day? He is not much of a gun enthusiast just ended up with a whole lot of 27 firearms in an auction.

Nice Thread.....stirring up memories, and motivating to replace! :uhoh:

These are net pics...not the ones I sold!

Gordon, the .44 Mountain Revolver is a handgun that I have always desired to own. You have a fine collection there, congrats.

All of them! Seriously, that's a tough call.

My model 1 is, well, just that. Need I say more?

My M37 is a classy little snub, gives that romanticized image of a '50s detective

The M65 4" is a classic in it's own right, and it's hard to beat a K-frame for a general purpose .357

My like-new 586 4" is one of my favorite guns aesthetically, with that beautiful deep blue and a beefy but elegant form

My 6" 686 doesn't have the class of the 586, but with it's worked action, it bests even the venerable Python for a grade-A shooter.

My 3" 629 is just nice looking, nice handling little powerhouse.

And that's just the revolvers............

I favor a plane Jane model 28 Highway Patroleman with a 6" barrel and utilitarian flat black finish that will print clovers at 25 yards. There might be early model 27's with better fit and magnificant finish but none that will shoot any better. Oh, and I am not too worried about scratching it.

Model 66 Combat Magnum.

Not as clumsy or random as a Glock. An elegant weapon, for a more civilized age.

I can narrow it down to one of the 45 caliber wheelguns. Either the -2, the 6" -5 or the 4'" - 45 ACP I built.

My 629 5" classic.
A true classic in my eyes.
Shoots light loads, medium loads, and heavy loads beautifully so long as I do my part to keep steady.
