Never thought I would say this as I am a traditionalist prefer the older blued smith's but I got a great deal on a 5" 627 PC gun and it is a great shooter has the lock which I hate and it has been removed.

Model 34-1

Great little J Frame

That one looks really nice, I only hope that you use it for the intended purpose and do not relegate it to safequeen status.

Thgis puppy was made as a shooter!

My 4" 686-4 is more practical for carry when out doing sweaty work, and it has a scary good trigger, but if I had to choose between them I would have to go with the lug modified 586. It shoots great, and is gorgeous!

Thats a real beauty Doug. How do you mean modified lug, did you have it cut to the 3/4 lug from a full?

Looks great

Hmmm! It's a toss-up between the K-22 and the K-38. But then the model 29 with handloaded 44 specials is great. Dang!! Glad I really don't have to decide.

I'm trying to talk myself into a 15-3, but I have a -1. -2 & -4

Get it; the universe will be out of balance until you fill the gap.

Please hurry!

625 Peformance Center, and a collection of loaded moon clips. (Cue the "we don't need no stinkin' semi-auto" phrase in your favorite dialect)

Like you, my favorite is my 1917. Mine is much rougher than yours, but it still shoots good. It was my Grandfather's revolver in WWi, and my dad carried it as a B-24 piolot in WWII. So it has earned its battle scars honorably.

So Many Smith's... So Little Time...

I love ALL my Smith's.. but my favorites are,
19-2...6"
19-?...2.5"
13...3" forget what the dash # is, it is one of the FBI models with a round butt...
and a K-38 Target Master and the Matching K-22 Target Master that my dad 1st taught me to shoot with...

I need to get into that safe, drag those out and head to the range.. I need some quality time with those sweethearts... After all.. It IS Valentines Day..!

How rockin' cool is that? Twice hauled around, in two separate World Wars by two generations of the same family.

Two close (tied for) seconds for me...

right now I like my 6 1/4" 610 -very accurate and nice to shoot.
The 10 mm or 40 cal makes it more versatile. I think this is the most inherently accurate gun I own. Pic is of my Nightguard which is my 2nd fav right now-10mm is good for me.

Thanks. The previous owner did the initial work, and yes he cut down the underlug from the full lug that is standard on the 586. When I sent it to S&W last year for a reblue, they did some touch up, smoothing of the grind.

If you go to p. 45 of the Revolver Picture thread of all time you can see some of Brian's pics of the initial cut down work he did.

Here is a more detailed discussion on the S&W forum.

Tough choice I have six S&W Revolvers : But I will say My Model 64 it is a smooth shooter.

Looking at pictures of Smith revolvers makes me happy.

Here's the favorite of the two I own - my 625 JM:

Doug,
From your pic - post 60, I never would've guessed that anything had been done to the lug.
S&W did an awesome job touching up & rebluing that gun.
Just beautiful! :D
