I bought mine online but even if I wouldn't have what if somebody that has never handled a revolver before had picked it up? Ya I'm mad cause I bought a broke gun and the reason I'm mad is because something like this should never make it past quality control and then after somebody bought it they decide instead of replacing it they will make that person wait for 8 weeks it just makes them look really bad. But hey thanks for the helpful tips I bet a few of you are the guy's at the basketball games yelling other helpful tips like Run and Shoot The Ball haha...

Was that really necessary?

Look, you got some good stuff out of this so don't take everything said here so personally.

NOW, you know to do some research on your intended purchase before making it.
NOW, you know to physically check out your gun before you purchase it.
And, now you know that taurus is not for you..or me for that matter.

If you read all the taurus threads here you'll find the posters are just like their firearms. A few happy with their purchase and a few upset and feel like they got screwed over.

Really, by now if anyone buys their firearms they don't have much to legitimately complain about. What do you want people to say? Really? Your taurus is junk and you just bought it????!!! Whoah, what a surprise.

Lesson learned, now go get that LCR, I love mine!

Well, I understand your frustration. It sucks buring a gun online that you can't inspect firsthand. As far as Rossi goes, I'd never buy one but I must say my old Taurus Model 606 chambered in .357 Magnum (and has been discontinued), was made on old S&W tooling has been a prized shooter since day one. Some of the older Taurus Revolvers are as good if not better than the newer S&W Stuff on the market now. I have bought and sold lots of firearms over the years and my 606 is a keeper. Not as Pretty as a Vintage S&W but still a quality sidearm. Moral of the story: Don't buy cheap new guns! Go for a used Smith, Ruger or even a Taurus and do not ever buy a gun that you can't inspect first. Good luck and I hope this helps you in the future..."VD51"

Yes it was necessary because their logic and advice is idiotic. Was my first time ever buying a gun that I couldn't really see and inspect first but I figured since it was brand new I wouldn't have to worry about it but I guess that's what I get for buying quality guns my whole life that I didn't have to think twice about as long as i take care of them they take care of me. I think part of the reason it makes me so mad is because I had a bad feeling about this gun and I should've listened to my gut instinct it's usually right.

None of that was directed at you Goju but you still responded to it so you calling me sensitive is a little hypocritical don't ya think lol. It was meant for the geniuses on the first page I don't remember theirs names but the ones that gave awesome advice like "you should have checked the gun out" and "I don't understand why your mad because you bought a broke gun". Really you guys lol

Yes...I could let it go.

No...It is not helpful.

But...Somedays I like to stir the pot.

So...jkulysses...It Takes One To Know One.:p

I have had a few Tarui...ssss. Anyway, I have had an 88, 85, and the 99 or whatever the 92 beretta copy was, and a 605. All were not only very accurate, but all well built and very accurate. The little 605 which was the most recent one I bought on a whim for a back up gun but found it to be so fun and accurate for a snubbie 357, that I carried it for a few years. I ended up using it as a barginning chip in a trade but wish I still had it and in fact, just the other day the new owner was praising it's virtues! Some are great, and I GUESS some aren't.

Why is it the fault of Taurus that he got a bad Rossi? They're different companies. Taurus owns Rossi but that doesn't mean anything. I wouldn't be complaining about Remington if my Bushmaster broke.

All guns can have issues. I own a few S&W revolvers. Most are from the 60's - 70's. My two newest ones; 2002 & 2008 have both been back to the factory for minor repair. The turn around time was two weeks to the day.

I've never owned a Taurus or Rossi, but every once in a while I like to hold one in a gun store to remind myself why I don't want to own one :)

Check your facts Action Can Do my gun says ROSSI by Taurus on the gun, the key's that lock the hammer safety say Taurus on them the paperwork that the repair center sent me say's Taurus on it not a single Rossi on it anywhere the call center you call from Rossi's site sends you to Taurus's call center and the bottom line is the gun is built by Taurus so why wouldn't I be upset with them both?? Either way it doesn't matter anymore it's going to be sold as soon as I get it back. It was going to be my bedside and/or truck gun but I've already replaced it with a Ruger P90 and I'm much much happier lol. This thread was originally started just to vent because I had just gotten off the phone with them and to see what other peoples experiences have been with Taurus CS.

I've got 2 in my safe. An old model 83 that my dad bought 30 years ago and I inherited and the PT1911. The 1911 has been flawless in the last couple of years that I have had it, but the part I like most about it is that if something does break, you can pretty much repair anything on a 1911 with a phone call to Brownells. No need to mess with Taurus' warranty dept and I saved a bunch of money vs. a Colt.

I probably won't buy another though. Too many good guns out there.

jkulysses, I feel your pain. This is a weird time for guns. The factories can't produce enough, fast enough, thanks to our Congress and current Obama.

Your expectations are yours.

I watched a gunsmith pull 3 Taurus' apart, and check them, brand new.
Two were back together in 5 minutes, everything was fine.

The third took an hour to artfully bend the extractor to straight, and make sure the gun function. Not good odds on a 500-600 dollar gun in todays market.

When you buy something in this market you are paying a premium price, often for a mediocre to bad product. In Kali, our local gunstore is getting 600 dollars for AK 47's made legal for Kali. Pretty much complete junk. Everything seems to start at 800 dollars, and go up.

I'm not sure if it's going to change anytime soon. It appears the fear of government, lack of faith in security is accelerating, not diminishing, and, this is fueling gun sales. My local gunshops can't get enough guns to sell for the demand, and, it's been that way for awhile, and has not stopped.

They are always trying to get me to try and trade a gun in, rather then just buy outright...

Yours was not a cheap lesson, but, understand the market, the flood, and why CS is going to be slow.

I like your plan, sell it as soon as it comes back, because now is the time to sell, and that part of the market you'll enjoy.

Well I just got off the phone with Taurus and everytime I talk to them I get more and more irritated! I asked what the status was on my revolver and he said "I don't know what you want me to tell you, it's only been a little over two weeks since we received it and haven't had time to even look at it" all sarcastic like which instantly mad me mad. I asked to talk to his manager and he told me his manager is out of the building right now which is the 3rd time I've been told this at 3 different times of the day. I can't even email a complaint or file with the BBB because they are not members and I can see why. At this point I just felt like being a jerk so I told him how I felt about the company he works for and how I would hate to have a job as shi*ty as his and couldn't imagine having to deal with people that are angry all day long and it could all be prevented if they would quit putting out mass quantities of sh*t and/or hire more people to fix the pieces of sh*t they put out. He told me that if I swear at him he is going to hang up on me lol. I said the two swear words I said were not directed at him, they were general statements about the quality of product Taurus puts out and that I would have a better chance of defending myself with a pile of sh*t to throw at somebody then pack around their worthless paper weight they call a handgun. After that statement he hung up on me lol.

I'm happy with my Taurus revolvers and I was with the Rossi that was stolen. Never had an issue with any of them. Don't know why I even bothered to look at this thread after I read the title. Wish I hadn't.

I had an OLD Rossi revolver -many years before Taurus owned them-that was just fine, and one of their lever rifles that was excellent as well. I bought 3 Taurus pistols, one I returned to the shop the same day I bought it, one kepr for a few months, then sold.

I spend my money on used guns, mostly - bought a re-finished S&W Highway Patrolman for $375 a few months ago.

Acting like an ass on the phone does not make Taurus look bad, only you. This thread exists only to hate on Taurus and should be closed. Act like a grown up and you may get better results, it is unfortunate to see a member of thr gun comunity representing us in this way, very tastless.

I've had my M66 since 1987, and have launched thousands of rounds through it, though the vast majority of them have been .38 Special and not Magnums (maybe 400 Magnums over the last two-plus decades.) I'm still waiting for my turn to have to send it in for service..

I have also been burned once by buying a Taurus Tracker 22lr. Firing pin broke on first trip to the range, sent it back waited 3 weeks, and when I got it back the firing pin had not been touched. Called them and explained my frustration, sent it back and they fixed the firing pin, but scratched the gun and I sold for a loss just to get rid of it! Taurus hater you bet! I can't blame anyone for trying to save a hundred bucks over Ruger or S&W heck I tried to, but just seeing the number of complaints on internet alone should give someone a big pause. I personally will never , ever own another taurus product.

I only own one Taurus. A 20YO 6" 669. I've been VERY happy with it. Dunno if I would buy a brand new one. Like's been said. After awhile all the bugs get fixed.:D

I know what you mean. I once bought a Browning Hi Power 9mm. It was a great looking gun but the trigger was hard as a brick. Got rid of it ASAP and will never buy another. What a piece of crap. (sarcasm off now)

I have a Taurus 605, .357. Owned it for a few years, and it's a hoot to shoot, and quite accurate.
Then, about three months ago, while shooting some fairly hot handloads, the bottom sideplate screw fell off (and I fully accept responsibility for not locktite'ing it). The gentleman next to me at the range and I looked for the screw for at least ten minutes. No luck.
So, I shopped all over the internet for the part. No luck. I tried gerry-rigging a screw from my parts box, no luck. I called Taurus. They don't have the sideplate screw, either. But, they agreed to put it on 'backorder'. No ETA--recommended that I call every month to check on it! So my pistol sits.

Then there was the Smith & Wesson 629 .44 Magnum I bought brand new. When I went to shoot it the first time, the strike of the rounds on the target with a 6 o'clock hold went right across the target as the barrel turned under the torque of the rounds engaging the rifling. Yeah, S&W fixed it, but it shouldn't have gotten out of the factory with a loose barrel, should it?

The three Tauruses (Tauri?) I have owned have been perfect right out of the box. My old 66 was every bit as good as the S&W Model 19 I had. I'm on my second Taurus 85SSUL since I made the mistake of selling the first one I had. It's been nothing but accurate and reliable since I got it years back.

Using your standard, I should have sworn off Smith & Wesson products after my experience with the 629. It took almost two months to get it back after I had my dealer send it back to them and had an unsightly gap between the frame and barrel.

Stop the hate, dudes!

ECS

Yet another taurus bash. I happily shoot 3 taurus revolvers, two rossi revolvers, and a rossi M92 carbine in .357 magnum I've had for 25 years.

I've never owned a Taurus or Rossi, but every once in a while I like to hold one in a gun store to remind myself why I don't want to own one

I don't need to pick a Smith up to tell I don't want it, not so long as the left side is showing.

I don't buy any handgun sight unseen....
