jkulysses, I feel your pain. This is a weird time for guns. The factories can't produce enough, fast enough, thanks to our Congress and current Obama.
Your expectations are yours.
I watched a gunsmith pull 3 Taurus' apart, and check them, brand new.
Two were back together in 5 minutes, everything was fine.
The third took an hour to artfully bend the extractor to straight, and make sure the gun function. Not good odds on a 500-600 dollar gun in todays market.
When you buy something in this market you are paying a premium price, often for a mediocre to bad product. In Kali, our local gunstore is getting 600 dollars for AK 47's made legal for Kali. Pretty much complete junk. Everything seems to start at 800 dollars, and go up.
I'm not sure if it's going to change anytime soon. It appears the fear of government, lack of faith in security is accelerating, not diminishing, and, this is fueling gun sales. My local gunshops can't get enough guns to sell for the demand, and, it's been that way for awhile, and has not stopped.
They are always trying to get me to try and trade a gun in, rather then just buy outright...
Yours was not a cheap lesson, but, understand the market, the flood, and why CS is going to be slow.
I like your plan, sell it as soon as it comes back, because now is the time to sell, and that part of the market you'll enjoy.
