while change is possible, it ain't likely
>I feel I can change her.
actually, you might be able to. And I have to emphasize the chancy aspects of "might".
My view: if she is worth keeping, convert her. If you can't convert her, and she is refusing to budge or consider divergent viewpoints, let her follow her bliss. As my M-I-L likes to say: there is a butt for every seat, and a seat for every butt. This one isn't sounding like your seat, my friend.
When I met my wife, she was 100% antigun, anti 2nd amendment, and would shake whenever she was around guns.
All that changed with two kids, two heart attacks and a failed home invasion. Oh, and a healthy fear of political persecution.
I now involve my 7 and 4 year old girls in the weekly gun cleaning, take them both shooting, and they help me compare ballistics from recovered rounds. My wife shoots the .22, and the .38 fits well in her hand. She has had to call the police enough times in our quiet and "safe" neighborhood to know that modern living is risky, and the police take a while to get there.
On compromise: In my house, the firearms are either on our person or locked up. This is my "Fifth Rule", and it was my own. My daughters are far to curious to leave guns lying about unattended. Just keep in mind that if it isn't on you, you can' use it. That maxim is true no matter what you use to defend yourself: baseball bat, mace, golf putter, sjambok, or the candlestick in the study.
Good Luck. Hard decision. Don't envy you :-\
