my Ruger Gunsight Scout

I also have a Gunsite Scout like the OP's. !6" blued with the synthetic stock in 308. The factory brake absolutely works. The synthetic stock has a big aluminum front bedding block and a big pillar at the rear. The action screws stay tight and my rifle is very accurate, 3/4 moa easily. I use QD mounts on a Vortex scout scope, but shoot it more often with just the iron sights which are quite good. I drilled out the rear sight and put a .040" tech sight insert in. I mostly use mine for fun plinking and steel. I'm too old and unsteady to shoot heavier rifles off hand but the 16" synthetic model is exceptionally easy to off hand. I just load up a bunch of worn out brass from the auto loaders with cheap bullets and blast away as fast as I can run the bolt. It's amazing how well this rifle feeds and ejects. Also huge fun to load up with pistol powder and plated bullets at 1400-1800 fps. Yee Haw!!
