New 10MM Striker Fired Pistols

Picked up my new XDm Elite 10MM today. I had some errands I needed to attend with my much better half and so didn’t have a lot of time to shoot it.

I bought this gun to fit a perceived niche I have…that may not really be filled by my .40’s or .45’s, but whatever…price was good so I jumped on it. It replaced the G20 Gen 4 I just couldn’t get used to. Better ergo on this gun for my arthritic and kinda girly hands.

When finished, this gun will have a red dot sight and weapon light. Then, I’ll have a kydex holster made.

The gun came with the “Gear Up” stuff all in one box, so gun, range bag (which is actually pretty nice, five 16-round mags, the misc pistol stuff, and the $20 transfer brought the entire price tag to $603.

I shot 20 rounds of CCI aluminum case 200 gr rounds. Had some kick to them. Gun seemed to shoot fine. I like the sights but it will get an optic soon.

I’m looking at optics and will likely settle for a Swamp Fox Liberty. I have several and they are all holding up great. They have a solid warranty and excellent 1st Responder discount. I hate more and more that they are sourced in China, so may reconsider.

I am NOT impressed by the trigger, but that will wait for more rounds. Long pull and reset. I’ve put several Powder River triggers in XDm’s and that would be my go to if I make that leap. No hurry though.

Still trying to decide which light I want on the gun…probably a Streamlight TLR 1 or TLR 2.

Heck of a deal, Buzznrose. Those XDM-10mms are really nice. I put a Powder River spring kit in mine and it smoothed it out nicely., but I think the reset is rather long. The PRP trigger should address that, correct?

I like that there are more 10mm options, I'm a Glock guy tho so that really only narrows it down to three guns. If I had the desire to try something else it would either be the M&P 10mm or the Sig Xten, I don't dislike the XDm, I've had them in other calibers, but to me the bore axis is a bit on the high side for my liking plus I've always been iffy on the idea of a grip safety on a polymer gun, seems unnecessary but I do agree, current offers do make the XDm look at least a little appealing.

I’m a Glock guy as well, but the large frame guns just don’t work well for me.

I really like the XDm platform. I wasn’t a fan of the grip safety but it really isn’t a big deal operating the gun. I have an XDm 9MM compact I bought in 2015 and it is still running great.

I wanted to become more of a Sig guy, and recently bought a P320X Compact and the next day was offered a smoking deal on a P365XL and bought that too.

After a couple hundred rounds, I sold the P365 and am now looking to sell the P320X.

I really am trying to figure out which of the recent 10MM guns released I want to buy. To clarify, I’m only considering buying the XDM Elite, the S&W M&P, and the Sig P320X

Among your options it would definitely be the Sig for me.

But my 10mm is a Springfield Ronin.

I have not fired it a lot yet, but I have not had any issues. I know some folks are worried about the frame and it using a 5" barrel vs a 6" that a lot of 10mm 1911s sport, but no problems for me so far.
It is not uncomfortable for me to shoot, so I would not hesitate to buy another one.

What are the concerns with the frame?

Wow!
I really enjoy my P320s and P365. Are you saying you're being rid of them because the frames are too large for you?

I've read some people being concerned that the frame will not hold up to the stress of the 10mm round.

It’s a forged stainless frame. I wouldn’t think frame strength would be an issue. There are plastic guns that handle 10mm.

Not too large, just not living up the the hype for me. I’ve kinda been thinking about upgrading my carry guns for a while…it was an itch I just had to try and scratch. After a lot of looking around, I decided I’d go with the Sig offerings.

I had been out of the shooting sports for the last several years and just went back recently. I saw a lot of folks at a recent IDPA running P320’s. I’d also saw Larry Vickers recent video and he was liking the newer P320 as well, and I knew he was NOT a fan of the P250 or the first run of 320’s. Those kinda triggered me to branch out from being mainly a Glock shooter to try a P320.

Bought a brand new 320X Compact and put a Delta Point Pro on it. A day after buying it, I saw a P365XL advertised on a local forum for a very good price and I jumped on it.

After three range visits, I was ambivalent on the guns. They were okay, but no better in my opinion than my G19 MOS. So now I‘very decided to just stick with my G19. I probably have 25K rounds through Glocks and I guess I’m just too used to them.

As far as the P365, again, also not better (in my opinion) than my G43X. It was okay, and I shot it fine, but I’m pretty happy with my 43X and now my 48 MOS.

I am not in any way saying Glocks are better than the Sigs or any other brand. But I’ve been shooting them pretty much exclusively since 2010 and I guess I’m just used to them.

I was really considering the Sig 10MM until my experience with the Sig 9MM’s. But after that, I went with the XDm since I’ve got a fair amount of experience with that line and it’s always run well for me.

If my G20 had a smaller grip, I’d still have it…but it just didn’t fit me well.

YMMV

Understood! Regarding my XDM10, save for the two-piece trigger and grip safety, it gives my XTEN a run for the money!

I really like the fact the Sig XTen is made in the States. I was born and raised in New Hampshire! I really wanted to make Sig work for me.

I did decide to hang on to my 320X Compact. It’ll be a good present for a grandkid down the road…
