I suppose if you have the $$$ for a real MP5, then you can probably swing a 7, at least a CPO.

Lastly, who the heck said I was planning to have an MP5?!

I showed a classy, discrete MP5 mount as the only quick example I could find of a non-ugly factory-available mount.

oh ok. I see now. I missed that before.

No MP5 here. Probably just a Glock 23. I'm starting to give up the idea of the long-gun in the trunk.

Plus the new car didn't pan out. Turned out the dealer was trying to sell me a ghost car so it's back to square one.

what cable would be practically impossible to cut or saw through?

I'm guessing the answer is none. Cable cutters are one thing, but a cordless dremel tool with the universal cutting attachment is a heck of a tool. I mean, I've cut through gun lock cable with wire cutters before when I lost the key to one..... just took a little patience. But I've cut through an entire padlock with a dremel tool (just to see if it would work - and it did - note: the lock was mine, so don't get the wrong idea). However, there has to be some gauge at which the dremel tool couldn't handle it without at least a new attachment and a recharge, and wire cutters wouldn't work..... so I suppose a better way to phrase this is, what cable is impractical and extremely difficult to cut through.

I ask because I was thinking maybe I could buy a small safe that would fit IN the console, not necessarily filling it though (just big enough for a Glock 23/22 and a mag or two), and drill a hole through it and secure it with a cable, then run the cable down something and secure it to something sturdy in the underpinnings of the vehicle. Something solid attached to the frame maybe.
