Ok, somehow, the liberals have George W. against the wall. Not only does he not allow the AWB to sunset, he allows an even tougher ban to pass.

The new law: a person may only possess three (3) guns, one rifle, one shotgun, and one handgun, no more. If you pick a combo rifle/shotgun, that counts as both. There's no differentiating between pistols or revolvers, it's one or the other. You only get one barrel per weapon. And they have to be what you currently own now or can reasonably expect to be able to afford or legally purchase between now and next September.

What do you pick?

Me, I pick:
rifle - SAR-1
shotgun - either of my Mossberg 500's
handgun - S&W 686 since it came from my dad

Of course, I'll transfer my other Mossberg 500 and my AR-7 to the better half to go with her Taurus 85.

I'd pick secession from the Union.

I do hope George 2 realizes that if the AWB is renewed, he loses.

Kinda skipped over how the "excess" guns would be collected...that would determine the order of bloodletting which would surely follow.

I'll take a bunch of cosmoline, plastic bags, good solid crates and a shovel. Throw in a GPS system to mark positions too. What won't get burried is:

Remington 870... though I would have to pick up a smooth bore barrel for it.
Mosin Nagant m44
Glock 23C (it'll carry well).

The AR, AK, and CETME get burried for sure -- the next ban will get rid of them anyway.

M4 Dissipator with carbon fiber handguard
Benelli M1 Super 90
either a Beretta 92G or Kimber 1911 with carbon fiber grips. Me not picky.

Screw 'em. I'm not a criminal. I'm keeping all of 'em.

There's a little thing called civil disobedience. If enough people refuse to obey the law they can't stop us. We could have to make some hard choices next year.

That, my friends, is EXACTLY the kind of thinking that got us where we are, and will lose us everything.

May your chains rest lightly upon your shoulders.

A wonderful sentiment. BUT! Who goes first?

Americans are by nature pretty much followers - yes even us keepers of freedom in the gun culture.

So who goes first? Which one of us or our neighbors is gonna bite the bullet, make the first shot and take out one of the police, a government agent, a blue helmeted UN scum or US Army type that comes to take away YOUR guns? And what makes anyone think that would do any good? What makes anyone think that your fellows would ever even know - a government that would take your guns would and could surely suppress any information to the effect that they could be stopped from doing it don't you think? AND if no one knew that the first shot had been fired and that one man or woman had stood up and said NO! Then that act of courage would be fruitless.

This is REAL LIFE not Unintended Consequences. Newspapers, TV and Radio would be controlled and the internet would be shut down. The USA is a big country and the seed of insurrection would be ground into the dirt without anyone ever knowing it had sprouted.

Until someone takes that first shot and then another and then another nothing will happen.

To be honest and as much as I hate to say it - I don't believe that first shot would ever be taken. The guns would be collected without resistance.

I provide as an example Australia. A nation whose history is much like our own. When the gun grabbers came the people stood meekly by while their guns were taken away.

I provide as an example states like California and Massachusetts, Washington D.C. where draconian gun laws have made it difficult if not impossible to be a lawful gun owner. Did anyone stand up there and say NO! You will not take my guns?

I provide as an example the United Kingdom where even the right to self defense has been taken away. Has anyone stood up there and said enough is enough?

The same will - unhappily - happen here - in the USA - within the next 50 years or so.

Luckily I'm old enough that I will never see it. My children may - my grand children most assuredly will.

We're past the point of no return. The line in the sand has been crossed and no one (and that includes me) stood up pushed back. One day the government will wake up and say, "Hey! You know what? We can disarm the people and there ain't a damn thing they can or better still will do about it. What took us so long?"

AR-15
current Mossy 590
1911

Everything else would have been sold last year at a gun show. :)

Werewolf, you don't think Americans will stand for themselves unlike Austrailia or the UK? Hell, Americans are so itching for a fight, we even fought ourselves in the Civil War! If the gubmint were to try to take our guns, I want to believe we'll handle it differently from our aquaintences across the oceans.

Molon Labe!

I dont care what gun laws pass. None of my firearms will be surrendered under any circumstances. "From my cold, dead hands."

If the liberals get a hold of genie that uses magic to make all guns disappear except for 1 handgun, 1 rifle, 1 shotgun my choices would be:

Rifle - Barrett 82A1
Shotgun - Remington 870 Marine Magnum
Handgun - CZ 75B

Didn't plenty of gun owners refuse to register their "assault weapons" in CA?

If enough of us do it they can't stop us. Cops are not supermen. They do not have X-ray vision. They can't read minds. Most gun owners who get caught for something stupid get caught because they talked.

How do you think it will look when the ATF kicks down the door to confiscate some kid's .22, or some veterans war trophy? We still have a free press, we can report these things and shine the light of public condemnation on them.

And if we don't have a free press anymore . . . well, you know what to do.

A wonderful sentiment. BUT! Who goes first?

I'll trust the folks I know in the local area to follow suit or join me, even if the national communication (interent) has broken down. As with any revolution it is a local/personal thing and the 10% can influence the other 90%.

Look at the revolution, a small percentage were very influential there!

Werewolf,
I think you hit the nail on the head.
Also, it won't be "All guns must be turned in tomorrow". First it'll be no machine guns after 1986, no more than ten round mags or "assault weapons" after 1994, no scopes or detachable mags after 2004, no autoloaders or jacketed ammo after 2010, etc.

Hell, I have more than enough scopes right now.......why leave my kid fatherless over that next year?

Get the point everyone?

While I agree that there wouldnt be much shooting....

Which would you rather do? Risk your life or guarantee your child's fate in a tyrannical system without the one last chance for resisting tyrrany that sits in your gunsafe at this very moment?

Personally, I would teach my kid "aim small, miss small.'' But, I am also 20 and single without kids, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

Personally, the three guns I would take are the only guns I have:

Yugo 24/47 8mm Mauser
Legacy Escort 12ga
EAA Witness 10mm

Provided I were to get any other guns, they would be sold off to a mystery guest from the swamp. I didnt catch his name though.:scrutiny: THen my backyard would suddenly become kindof lumpy.
