im going on my frist hunting trip and i didnt have a lot of money so i got nagant m44 is that a rifle to begain with i only paid 100 bucks for and i got the hollow piont shell for 10 bucks let me now what you think im hunting deer in MO

The M44 is a high powered rifle with good close range, 100 yard, sights. If you are compentent with it, I bet you will be fine. The bigger issues you will have will be in finding a good spot, stalking, etc. Good luck.

It'll be heavy. May want to take the bayonet off at least, and sight it in for POI accordingly.

The sights on my M38 were so far off I couldn't hit a man sized target at 75 yards. You definitely want to sight it in first.

Your rifle is certainly up to the task, now you must do the same by zeroing your rifle and practicing until you can consistently hit what would be the vital areas of the deer, at the distances you plan on engaging said deer.

The rifle has the power but spend a lot of time at the range getting to know the rifle, how your chosen load shoot in it, and adjusting the sights to your liking. That first shot from a cold barrel is what counts and the difference in the barrel being clean or fouled can make a big difference. Honestly this is something you should have started several months ago.
