Picked up a new LC9 this week...So far put 400 plus rounds of FMJ and JHP's thru it...Gun ran flawlessly...Trigger is not all that bad and got pretty much used to it fairly quickly..I've seen some nightmare stories about these and was wondering if anyone here had problems with theirs...Are the issues with the first runs of these ? This gun shoots really well, is pretty darn accurate and seems put together really well...Any input appreciated...

I can't speak for everyone, but mine has been like yours...flawless. Holsters specifically for it are still hard to find, but it is so small and so thin, that you can get away with anything that is close as long as it covers the trigger guard. I have found that most things that work for the Kahr PM9 work for the LC9 as well. Good luck, keep shooting!

I happened to be at the local gun store when a LC9 was delivered, Feb 2011.
I impulse bought it. I thought it might work for pocket carry and I liked the three LCP I already owned.

In the first eight days I shot over 1,000 completely trouble free rounds.
I stopped counting at over 1,700 rounds but still haven't had the first bit of trouble. Like the gun so well I bought a spare.

Was it the LC9 or the LCP? The LCP has been plagued with feeding problems, but so has the Keltec and Kahr. It seems to be more of a mis-marriage between gun design and the .380.

High Noon and Holster Pro both make great holsters for the LC9. I've used them to sort out my IWB, OWB and pocket carry options.

As far as reliability goes, I've found the LC9 to run flawless. Where the SR9c sometimes hangs up with blunt-nosed HPs, the LC9 seems to run everything. Accuracy is also superb, once you figure out your grip and stance.

LC9...All sorts of issues at first..(i.e. firing pin problems, light primer strikes, blown off ejectors, rear sights coming loose and front sights completely flying off...) Again, seems these were problems related to early runs I believe...

Eh, have had mine since 6/11, probably carried it 100+ days since then. Went through 500 rds before carrying it, good thing 9mm is cheap. I practice with handloaded 115 gr XTP's because they match the profile of the little Hornady Personal Defense factory loads I carry. That's another ~300 or so rds, I store them in 100 rd plastic boxes and I've less than two full boxes left of 5. Time to make more.

My standard of reliability is 3 different Glocks carried over >15 years, the LC9 has met my expectations. Magazines are available, of very good quality, and reasonably priced.

Amazingly good value for money, and the first Ruger pistol I've bought.

Brian in CA

I haven't had a single issue. Never a FTF or FTE. Make sure to buy a Crossbreed holster to go with it. I'd suggest the combat cut.
Where have you heard nightmare stories? I've never heard a single negative thing.

Got mine a couple of weeks ago and ran about 200 rounds of various stuff through it. Everything seemed to work ok with the exception of the S&B FMJ ammo.

I bought mine in mid December and have put somewhere near 600 rounds through it. It has been flawless for me so far. That's with FMJ and various defense loads including +P. I actually like the trigger and general feel of the gun. All I've done to it is put Talon grips on it and replaced the plastic guide rod with a Galloway stainless steel guide rod. I really enjoy shooting the pistol a lot. As for holsters I use a Crossbreed mini tuck and a DeSantis Sof-Tuck. I like both holsters really well. The DeSantis is a great little holster for the money. I think Galloway Precision has quite a few new pieces either out or coming out for the LC9. I'm 100% happy with the Ruger so far.

I bought mine June 2011 on impulse. I had researched .380's and was going to the store to decide between 3. I heard the sales guy taking about the LC9 while I was waiting, I hadn't researched it at all and that's what I went home with. The trigger pull took a bit for me to get used to but no big deal. I'm happy now that it's been out awhile I've found a lot more holster options than I did when I first bought it. I haven't read many negative reviews although I haven't looked either. I'm very happy with my purchase.

It's pretty close to a Kel Tec in size. If I got one, it'd be a pocket gun. I carry my P11 in a Blackhawk number 4 which also fits my little Taurus 85UL revolver and I carry a little, thin P64 Radom in it occasionally, though the Radom has some room to flop in that holster. Anyway, any soft pocket holster for a PF9 or perhaps P11 should fit the Ruger I'd think. I put my newly acquired Ruger SR22 in it and fit great! :D It's only a tad longer at the slide than my P11 and almost, but not quite as wide.

Of course, if you're going to carry IWB and want a custom fit, you might have to wait, but most of the outfits should be making 'em now. I have a 140 dollar Mitch Rosen Workman tuckable I got originally for my P11, but I don't use it much anymore, just drop the thing in a pocket holster and go. It also fits in the holster section of the Bandera Leather belt I had made for my Ruger P90, as does my new SR22, which is cool. I bought the belt for my P90, but found the decocker dug in to my love handles rather irritatingly, so I don't carry the P90 in it often. In THAT case, though, belt tension retains the gun even though it's not as wide as the Ruger P90. Works great, though, no complaints, with a gun that's reasonably wide. :D I can't carry anything like my Radom in it, too thin, lacks enough retention.

About 500 rounds through mine, no problems.

Ruger replaced the front sight because it shot really low.

I usually just file the sight if it's shooting low. Nice to know they care enough about the customer to do something so trivial, though, that doesn't affect the function of the gun. Ruger is great about that. Only problems I've ever had is with one of the 11 Rugers I've owned (still own 8) was a broken mag catch spring in my KP90DC. I called 'em, they sent me one, was in my mailbox in 3 days.

My Ruger Old Armys, both of 'em, shot/shoot HIGH with the rear sight adjusted to the bottom. I've always just compensated with sight picture, never wanted to hassle Ruger about it. They do have this rep for shooting high. I might could get it fixed, but it's not a big deal. If it's shooting high, though, ain't like you can file anything to compensate.

I'm on LC9 #2 the first one was perfect but I didn't like the trigger, I ended up selling it and carrying my SR9c. After a while of lugging around the SR I really knew I wanted something smaller, especially with warm weather coming.
Its hard to beat the value of the LC9 so I got another....this time I ordered a Galloway hammer for the pistol.
I ran 200 initial rounds through the new LC9 in stock condition with no problems. For some reason, the trigger wasn't as bad as I remember or made it out to be...but I already had the hammer on the way, so I installed it.
After installing the Galloway hammer, the trigger was lighter in pull. The bad news is my LC9 became very unreliable :fire:
With the Galloway hammer, I immediately started getting light primer strikes to the tune of about 2 in every 5 rounds not lighting, I got through 50 rounds and that was enough, back to the original configuration..

Btw: I carry in a Don Hume 715 ItW, made for a Kahr MK/PM, the fit is perfect.

Mine had 875 assorted flawless rounds through it.I bought mine in Feb.2011.This is embarasing to admit but when I first got it,I thought it was shooting extremely low(12"-18"@7yds.)so I sent it back to Ruger. When I got it back, there was an included test target that was dead on.Ruger didn't state what changes if any they made to the gun.
Well, come to find out it wasn't the gun it was me.The looong trigger pull had me pulling down on every shot. After a little practice with it I can put up better groups with it than with my G26,. just not as consistently.

I think mastering the long trigger pull of the LC9 helped me with my overall trigger control. After a few weeks of shooting the LC9 only, I pulled out the G21 and G26 and put up the my best groupings yet.
I have since removed the mag safety which improved the trigger pull moderately.

My LC9 has been perfect. Bought it new last April. Been keeping up on the Galloway trigger mods and have the trigger kit coming for it now that he has a business to manufacture the trigger bar to spec as opposed to buying them from Ruger and modifying them. The modified trigger bars, from what I had read, might require a little tweaking.

Now, after all this time on the factory trigger, I can shoot this pistol so accurately, I'm wondering if I will actually sell the galloway trigger kit or install it. I'll probably give it a try and see. It sounds like it takes care of the pre travel and also reduces the hammer release by about half of the factory trigger pull.
