Wow, surprise me too. I didn't think they had gone that high. Cabela's online is showing about $1,559.99 for the standard in walnut. Look gently used, you may find one in the $1,000 range.

......dangerously addictive and accurate with quality ammo. I've had the trigger rebuilt on my standard grade, and that's about it. If you want an M14 pattern rifle, I'd say the Springfield is a good value at $1,500. It seems most of the other builders entry point start $1K higher.

I've been very pleased with my SAI M1A Standard. It's my first and I shoot the piss out of it. I've run over 2k rounds through it since purchasing it last November and I have yet to have a FTF or malfunction of any type.

Very nice but actually a 0.64" group. Outside to outside then subtract one bullet width.

Well guys, I didn't buy an M1A.

Instead, I chose a PTR-91 GI model, which is a copy of the H&K G3. It's coming to my FFL soon, and only cost $822 total from Bud's Gun Shop.

After reading various reports on the M1As, I just wasn't impressed with what I was reading... not from a $1500 gun. I've heard nothing but good reports from the PTR-91, and I feel it will make a great battle rifle.

Congrats on the purchase. You saved a considerable amount of money by purchasing the way you did, I think you'll be very happy with it and find the PTR to be a fantastic rifle copy of the HK91 that will give you years of service.

You just wont' be as happy with it as you will be with the M1A once you buy that.
