Introduction

Hello everyone. I've been reading this forum for awhile and decided to join today so that I can participate. I'm a 66-year-old retiree and I've been collecting guns most of my life (mostly U.S. military arms). I used to do historical reenactments of various time periods, from English Civil War, French & Indian, Rev. War, through Civil War and WWI, all the way to WWII. (The variations in drill sometimes got confusing!) For several years I was also an FFL and Class 3 SOT.

Unlike most here, I have to admit that I don't do much shooting any more. But everything I collect must be shootable. Maybe I'm too lazy at my age to clean the guns any more than I have to -- and shooting them inevitably adds wear and tear that lowers their value. Besides, I have so many that it's hard to choose which ones to shoot. I do have my old standbys (Colt 1911, AR-15, Rem. 870) ready in case I need them.

Hello the fire,

As a fan of the cowboy action shooting and the mid 1800's this greeting would be used if coming up to a camp out in the west. I am an avid shooter, be it cowboy, muzzleloaders or what ever is available. As my wife has really gotten hooked on Cowboy Action Shooting that is where we spend most of our time.

I look forward to sharing information, ideas and opinions. I do not mind what other people shoot, I just don't want them to look down on what I shoot. All shooters should stand together against the anti-gunners.

Greetings from Wild, Wonderful West Virginia! Great forum! I've been lurking for a couple of years & finally took the plunge a few days ago. I never make a firearms purchase w/o checking this forum.

I look forward to learning even more & perhaps making a contribution from time-to-time.

Hi All! Been a member since 2006 and never introduced myself or post much during that time. My name is Jeff, moved from PA to TX and loving it here. Had a large collection of arms, sold most when I moved to PA from VA. Got into edged weapons, custom swords, etc. Seems the firearms bug is coming back and getting rid of my swords for guns.:) Also, a former LEO (Firearms Instructor, DT and Officer Survival Instructor, as well as SWAT, Academy Instructor, etc.) and still a government worker. Have 15 or so to go until I retire from a third career. Looking to "cowboy" up and get into SASS. Glad to be here and looking for interesting converations and knowledge. Thanks!;)

New guy

Where have I been? I just found this forum today and registered right away. Looks like a very interesting place. I still hunt deer, elk and coyotes. But, mainly like to reload and punch paper for fun and my enjoyment.

New CA. member trying to find out where to get a CZ handgun. I've seen the doj cert list but it's a p.o.s.! Some models have the mfg. sku number and others don't!!?? I've tried online sources all over the U.S. and not having any luck with the Ts model. Is there a California specific forum here? I'm a range officer at my local shooting club. I have shot a Ruger MKI MKII MKIII for many years had all three models, still shoot a Dan Wesson SS 6 in .38 spl. and a nice S&W 39-2. Picked up a Hi-Point 9mm for the hikes.Still find time to shoot a few rounds of trap since my club has both.

Forum newbie onboard

Just getting the obligatory self-introduction out of the way. Hello to all..

I'm Chris.

I'm a Professional Gunsmith in East TN (as in that's what I do to keep body and soul together), and a former Marine.

Been in the Gun Industry off and on, in various positions, over the last ten years, and have been a 'gun guy' for years.

Bigboy2011

Retired Babyboomer living here in Eugene Oregon with my wife after working as a Sheet Metal Worker (LOCAL 104) over 30 years. Life is good. Got back into pistol shooting after being away for over 35 years. I love my Glock30, XD 40 and my new baby the Glock 27. Not to mention Oregon is a conceal carry state. I have become very interested in terminal tactical gelatin penetration and expansion test results.

I found with myself and some of my friends is that when we retired our experience was that retirement as we viewed it for many years while still working was not as we imagined it in fact some of the things we were going to do got very boring. In my case I was seeking out external people places and things to fix my insides and thus had a rough time in retirement for awhile. Anyway things are good now as I have found peace by the gift of looking inward, being of service, helping others and shooting my ass off. Today I shoot better than I ever could have imaged. Bill W is a friend of mine.

Thanks for The High Road.....Bigboy2011:)

Hi!

Hi, my name's John. I go to school in New London, Connecticut, but I live in Virginia. I've been interested in guns since I was pretty young, and I bought my first two last winter. A Mosin Nagant 91/30, and a brand new Ruger 10/22. I went to a range with them a few times, and really enjoyed it (except for trying to clean the surplus russian ammo residue from the mosin, good god it's a pain!)

I'm thinking about buying some more guns this summer, torn between a PSL, a saiga 5.45, and a saiga 12. I plan on getting them all at some point, but don't know in what order and when.

Hello

Hello everyone, I'm new here and just thought I'd take a moment to introduce myself. On a side note I've always been into firearm modification (legal of course) semi-auto mainly. I was wondering If anyone had any suggestions for some cheap semi-auto handguns or rifles (anything under $200) that I use to modify.

Thanks,
Phil

Hello to all.........

I'm a former Bullseye shooter from Jersey, but that was a long, long time ago. Now I'm retired living in North Carolina and loving it. I started pistol shooting again, no competion though, just having some serious fun. I'm glad to be here.

Howdy everyone, long time lurker here. I actually signed up in October of last year to be able to view pictures while lurking but have finally decided to get involved and start posting. I'm your standard firearm enthusiast with a passion for LEO/Tactical type shotguns and handguns, and love long walks on the beach, provided it's to walk out to 600 yards or so to setup a target. ;)

Hi Everyone. Slowplayaa here. I enjoy the various posts of my fellow members, and am looking forward to expanding my general knowlege with everyone's help. I'm new to the forum, and will look forward to getting my two cents in from time to time.

I'm partial to Sigs, Walthers, and Glocks, though I also own a Colt 1911 and a Taurus. I also shoot Bushmasters and Remingtons for my long arms.

Hey there, Sawyer here.
Been following this forum for a while as well as others as my interest in firearms has grown. Soon I will be purchasing my own firearms and I think this forum will help me make informed decisions and help me with any problems.
I'm 20 as of now and don't have any history with firearms through my family, but fortunately my neighbor, a retired Vietnam ranger and private security contractor has taken an interest in my interest and is willing to teach me how to shoot handguns.
I know that my 21st birthday present to myself will be my very own handgun, something all steel and solid. I'm still deciding between guns like a CZ, S&W gen. 3 auto, a taurus 92 thing, or my dream gun, a sig (but thats a little out of my price capabilities.
After that I will invest in a battle carbine/rifle, which is also a toss up between a kel-tec su-16, an AR 180 (hopefully they will come into production within a few years, or an AK/SKS.
Currently I participate in airsoft sports and train in my backyard with an m9 styled pistol. I also like to windsurf in the Gulf of mexico, build scale models and watch movies.
I'm a student at the University of Florida, and have been closely watching developing bills regarding carry on college campuses, because I feel banning guns on campuses is an unreasonable obstruction of our rights.
