Hi1, I'm just an old (70) retiree now living in Utah ( formerly in
sokal ) who likes to fix old guns and is VERY worried about the way
things are going in the U.S.A..

New member

Hi all
I'm a collector and recriational shooter from Norway, 36 years old. I work for NATO, as a civilian engineer, joined 7 years ago. Will post some pics in the "foreign gunowners"-thread shortly.

New member from Harford County, MD.

My main firearm interests are gun rights, shotguns, black powder (new), handguns, and rim fire.

I enjoy the research, shopping and prep almost as much as the shooting. My favorite brands are Browning and SIG.

I look forward to some interesting conversations

Mike

After using this board consistantly for about a year from Google searches, I finally decided to quit lurking and join. I'm 33 from Kentucky. Love to research, hunt, and shoot.

Slightly grey newboy here

Hi all,
I've lurked this forum for a while now and figured I'd join although what limited knowledge I have about firearms may not lend much to others.

My only smithing experience has been with a 1942 Mosin Nagant 91/30 that used to look like beavers on steroids with metal dentures machined the beast. It's now just about all I can get out of it being my limited budget I have no choice but to work within. A skim coat bedding of the receiver ( I used the screws to apply pressure the first time) and a little more polish to the trigger and it may just do a consistent MOA with choice surplus or the 48 grain loads I've worked up.

I owned a few fire arms when I was younger although I never really had any real world purpose for them other then plinking, for the most part they just sat gathering dust and rust.

These days I'm living in Idaho working a seasonal job and my rifles are very valued tools for me to fill the freezer with for the winter months and this is part of the reason I have signed up here. The old Mosin's only good to about a 150 yards for a guaranteed deer kill anymore.

New to all this but interested

I'm just another old guy with time on my hands and a love of firearms...

My handle comes from the fact that I fish more than I hunt these days.

I'm in Charleston SC with a Ruger SP101 .357 on my belt.

Have SC ccw and am always armed these days.

I'll figure this chat thing some day and may be able to add something.

Hi, Just another old <deleted>. retired dairy plant mechanic who likes to fix
old guns, and talk, talk, talk. Unfortunately, I don't touch-type, ( or
maybe fortunately) so I will not be likely to post just to see my own
name. ( also barely computer-literate, I have yet to figure out how to
post pics). Thanx, Hunt

Just a note to Big Bad Bob from another South Carolinian - proud of you!
We're all proud of all of you and all you do!

Since everyone seems to cough up all their weapons, here goes:

S&W model 581 .357 blue 4 inch barrel - all time favorite pistol
Ruger SP101 .357 2.25 inch barrel - main carry gun
Bersa Thunder duo-tone .380 - other carry weapon
Ruger Mini-14 ranch rifle .223 stainless - favorite rifle
Marlin model 60 .22 rifle - too new - haven't shot enough yet
Remington Nylon 66 .22 - Stole it from a pawn shop for $89.95 - love it

I gave my Remington 1100 16 gauge to my son some years ago - great gun
Took out more than a few doves with it

I've shot thousands of rounds in my time and may be able to add something sooner or later...

Hello

Hi all,

Just another newbie here, an old timer from the Peoples Republik of Massachusetts. I have an 03 FFL and have been collecting for a few years, mostly Mauser rifles and about anything that looks like a 1911. I recently put together my first AR, a 20" varmint kit from M&A Parts. I have a 16" Dissipator kit on order from Del-Ton and am anxiously waiting on that. Now if this darned weather will give us a break I can get some range time.

hey y'all im phil and I'm only 16 but I know alot more than most 16 yearolds do about guns and have been told I'm obsessed with them. I plan on becoming a marine scout sniper. a few of my favorite guns are the ithica 37, m1911a1 (duhh), Winchester 1894, Model 99 in 300 Savage and the T/C encore. I'm from the east coast and dont have much experience with long range shooting because all i have ever needed was a good brush gun (my savage 99) for shots around 100 yards.

This weekend is the local gun show, and when it's over I'm getting my First 1911! I'm excited (Also because my .45 blew up last Friday! See blog for pics)
My husband says I'm a gun nut (Mostly cause it's almost all I think or talk about!) So he said I needed to find people of like mind to talk with. He also says that I now probably know more about guns then him!
My wish list is:

Ruger LC9
Ruger MKIII
M1 Garand
(At least I don't want much, YET)

I currently own a SCCY 9mm (Looking to upgrade to the LC9)
And a KAHR CW-45 but that blew up last week
Ruger Mini 14 rifle (Love that gun)
a Ruger 10/22 rifle

Introduction

I'm 18 years old from indiana. Been shooting for a good portion of my life and as I just turned 18 I bought my first rifle that is MINE a Mosin Nagant 91/30. I'm 11 weeks from graduation and would like a career in gunsmithing as I just love the mechanics of a firearm and love working on them. Do any of you know any schools that actually offer a program in it?

New (ish) here

Hello!

I have been lurking on here for YEARS and just realized I haven't done much posting. Figured it's best to do an intro first.

I have been moderately into guns my whole life, but just over the last few years have I really gotten into it. Could be the fact that I recently started a family, not sure. I have a very modest collection so far of a couple handguns, a couple rifles, and a shotgun. Hope to expand here soon

Glad to be here!

Hello Just wanted to say hi to fellow shooters and gun nuts.I have spent most of my working life as a lawman one way or the other.I'm an Ex police officer and Ex Deputy Sheriff. After some 20 years I retired.I then decided that I needed to go back to work so I went to work as a armed guard on a armored car company in Dallas,Tex.After I turned 62 I just said that's it. I have been a hunter and shooter since I was 12 or 13.I've hunted white tail, and Mule deer and sometimes a Hog. I shoot handguns and rifles.I have been a reloader since 1990.

Hi Everybody!

I just wanted to stop in and say hello. I am fairly new to the shooting community and beyond enjoying firearms with my relatives and chatting with the occasional vendor at gunshows, I havent had much to do with folks in the firearms community. I joined this forum and a couple others just to toss my questions and bounce ideas off of seasoned individuals who arent trying to peddle their latest piece of junk onto me because of my youth. I tried asking gunsmiths and shop owners questions but all they seem to want to do nowadays is sell me something or brush me off because of my age. I am 20 years of age, I am in school, and I do have a stable job. I dont make much in the way of money but firearms are a hobby I intend on thoroughly investing in during the course of my (hopefully long) life. It would be nice to give a howdy to some guys in my area and hopefully make some in the flesh contacts that I can shoot with from time to time.
I have tossed around the idea of hunting but since I don't like game meat I have yet to partake in the sport. Currently I am in a crossroads as far as what I would like to get into. I am looking heavily at the TC Encore and that whole scene, but I am also heavily looking at getting into long range shooting. As far as my experience with firearms is concerned, I have a pretty good idea how they function on the whole, what the parts are for, and atleast for a few things I am aware of what brands carry a good name. I have been shooting since I was 4 years old. My first gun was a model 1904 winchester which was my greatgrandfather's as a boy and is still in my possession to this day. I have fired most everything in pistols, shotguns, and rifles, excluding the long action magnum cartridges.
Despite my youth I do have almost 17 years behind the sights and hopefully I can add to that for many years to come. I would like to thank everybody for their patience in advance for any stupid questions I ask and I do promise I will try my best to avoid asking things that make everybody groan.

So after my long ramblings I say, Howdy Yall!

John,

hey man, saw you post. Have you considered a revolver? I have experience with a Ruger sp101, they arent bad pricewise and revolvers are good first guns. Its 357 which might be a little steep for you if you have zero experience but you can use 38 special in that gun which kicks alot less to practice with. The size of that gun would also make it fairly good for use as a carry pistol if you decide to get your carry permit.
