Just stoppin' in to say "Hey".Enjoy firearms of all nature.Going on 50 yrs old.Have a small collection myself ranging from rifles, shotguns, revolvers and pistols.Been a reloader for 20+ years and very active at the gun range ATA (Trap) and pistol/rifle.You never stop learning, this seem the best way to pick up tips as well and also if there is anything I can help with just drop a line ( I'll do my best).Like to take old forgotten rifles and shotguns that people write off as junk and restore them back to better than new if possible.Nothing like a good challenge.

Hello all,
I am a new member to this forum looking forward to sharing my modest knowledge of firearms, as well as learning from all of you. Generally WW2-present are of most interest. Always looking to increase my knowledge of the AR and 223 ammo choices. Thanks much. Rock River LAR-15, Winchester 1300 Defender, HK USP 45, Sig Sauer P226

Any thoughts regarding the Black Hills 69gr matchking as a personal defense round? Shoots great out of my Rock River carbine (1/9 twist), but have heard mixed results regarding lethality/stopping power. While nobody seems to dispute the effectivenes of the 75 and 77's, not sure my twist rate would stabilize these. Some say it will leave pencil holes and should be used for paper, others speak of violent fragmentation due to the thin jacket. Would have more confidence with a 20" barrel but not sure if the 16" would produce sufficient velocity to reliablly fragment. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated, as well as any other ammo suggestions for this carbine. Thanks in advance.

Brand new member from Canada. Primary interests are IDPA and handguns in general. I have quite a few of everything though including hunting and mil-surps.

Hello all,

Whenever I need a question answered (or an opinion) on a firearm, I always come scour the THR forums. Most mature, civil forum on firearms that I've ever seen...and glad to be a part of that. I'm a former Infantry soldier, and enjoy the many applications that firearms have. My favorite rifle is the M14, and handgun is the XD40. Oh, and in general, anything with the word "tactical" in front of it makes me cringe.

New guy...

I have been in LE for over 13 years and did a year in Iraq training the IP. I had to sell many of my guns about 10 years ago, so I'm slowly building my collection again. I love wheel guns and only own a 4" 66-1 at the moment (my only revolver left out of my collection of 17). I also own my previously issued G22 and a few rifles. I look forward to this highly regarded forum and look forward to learning something new from the experts here.

Hey all, my name is Tanner, I am 24, and I grew up and still live in Colorado. My first ever experience with a firearm was at Philmont, on the black powder rifle activity station. I recently reached the point in my life where I felt fiscally stable enough to finally get into the firearms culture I had been so happy to see supporting itself. I own a Norinco SKS, a Norinco Type 53, a H&R Topper 158 in 12ga, a Charter Arms AR-7 Explorer (which has never given me any trouble by the way), and a Russian Commercial Import Makarov pistol.

Texas Hunter

I joined a couple weeks back. Age 75 and still in pretty good shape. I own a ranch (Pistol Ranch) near Del Rio (West Texas).
I have a fair collection of Pre-64 Winchesters..My favorite rifle is a Mod. 70 in .257 Roberts. I reload in many calibers from .218 Bee to .300 Win Mag. as well as .41 and .44 Remington Magnum.
My sons/grandsons all hunt on my ranch and MOST:what:of them are good shots.
Lots of smart people on this forum, IMO a good place for newbies as well as for the pro's..

I like going to the shooting range with my family, but my favorite thing to do is shoot exploding targets. My favorite targets are Sure Shot Exploding Targets. Ive tryed all kinds of different ones and sure shot are the best of the best, i will never shoot another kind! They are good quality targets and are much louder than any others ive shot. They are also the only company that sells a .22LR sensitive target!!

Count me in.

Hi folks! I 'm j.c. from New York. I appreciate the quality of discusson and fellowship on this page. We need more good ambassadors like you out there. More good examples.

Being armed is not for everyone. But it is for me.

graybeard

Hey guys n gals a new member here--I'm interested in handguns and hunting rifles--I'm an avid outdoorsman--both hunter and fisherman. I love whitetail and mule deer hunting and bass and trout fishing.

I found this site this morning after Googling ".450 Marlin". I love guns!!!
I heard about the .450 Marlin some years ago... that it is extremely powerful and suitable for brown bear.
This site seems really awesome even though I have yet to read any of the threads.
I look forward to learning as much as possibe about guns, and hopefully making some new friends with whom I can hunt, fish, and shoot.
I bowhunt more than I gun-hunt, but there is something about gun-hunting that is uniquely fun.
I only own 10 guns, but I hope to own many times that # someday.
I want a .500 S&W, a .450 Marlin vs. a 45/70, an AR 10, AR 15, Glocks, and countless more. Finding the cash to buy all the guns I want will be a challenge :)

Another new member who used to be an avid hunter but has been out of the firearm hobby for 30 years. I recently started target shooting again to get over the winter boredom and have been lurking here the last couple of months. This site seems to have what I would call a higher standard of conduct than many other sites so I figured it was time to join.

I guess you might say I jumped in feet first again. I bought a P239 9mm in January. Two weeks later I bought the P238 with LG that Gander Mountain had on sale. Last week I ordered the P250 .40 (with .357 barrel) from Buds along with a Ruger MKIII and they should arrive Monday.

Today I picked up a P290 at Cabela's and will take it to the range this afternoon. I think I'm done purchasing for a while, but am considering building an AR next fall. I have a lot of reading to do on that subject first.

Hi all I am Pat! (I use ShroomFish as a board name everywhere, it was a running joke awhile back for me)... I found THR because of random googling and I like the idea of a non childish gun forum (as many forums are.. (AR vs. AK tread! FLAME WAR TIME:cuss::banghead: lol)... I an mainly into long range shooting but I do also enjoy some run-n-gun courses ETC... I am getting ready to build my first AR and I decided to come here to find out information and to give me something to do while bored..

hello , my name is wolfbane, i am in to ar,s and CZ pistols have a 9mm pcr and also a spo-1 phantom which shoots quite well, enjoying THR greatly.

Hello

My name's Richard and I've been lurking here for a while. We have a collection of 22's, an RRA LAR-15 Elite Op, Marlin 336 CS, Danzig 98, a few shotguns, and a couple Glock 19's.

Lately, I've been following the discussion on 30-06 vs 308 as I've been considering an AR-10.

Thanks for the great forum!

My names Josh Young, alot of people just call me by my last name though. I like milsurp firearms as well as modern military and LE firearms. Never been big on the whole camo gun thing...I prefer classic looking hunting guns when looking in that field.

Boot here

Hello folks. I am boot here so a quick note about me. Served in USMC infantry. I have collected military weapons for about 30 year off an on. I collect uniforms from WW2 until current. I do WW2 an Vietnam displays an reenacting. I enjoy shooting all weapons but love the lever gun!

I'm Skyhorse and I live within the state of California. That said my collection varies from folks in other states.

I have had firearms since I was a boy and this year began to really apricciate them again.
I have not been hunting in years but have recieved my license and tags from fish and game, so I am looking forward to that.

My wife and I shoot often at a local range. We enjoy revolvers, pistols, bolt action rifles and semi-automatic rifles.

Most of my collection is Mil-Surp, sporters and firearms with a millitary history of somekind.

I have been watching this site for about a year and have gatherd many opinions and advice on what works and what does not. Communication is a key tool to prevent the re-invention of the wheel.

Glad to be on board.

New to the forums, but not to gun rights activism...

Hello everyone,
I've known about this site for years, and finally decided to join after reading some great threads that were linked on another forum.

I'm a holster maker and firearms instructor from northern Michigan. I am the chapter president of FSU's Students for Concealed Carry and am involved at the state level as well.
I am also an advocate of open carry, and do my part to promote and educate.

Thanks for having me, I look forward to making some new friends here.

Please let me know if there's anything I can do help any of you.
Blessings,
Chris
