Hi everybody, names Clay and I'm a Senior at the University of Kentucky. I'm a city boy whose been introduced to guns over the past two years by my redneck girlfriend and her family. Anyway it has become an obsession for me since shooting has turned out to be the only hobby I've been good at. I've come here because there seems to be a lot more activity than the other gun related forums I use. I'm trying to catch up on the information I missed from being ripped off in my childhood by not being raised around guns. Anyway looking forward to interacting with all yall.

Snohomish in the house

New member here from Snohomish WA.
Great forum. I'm still wading my way through several days reading of the 642 club thread in the revolver forum.
I think this is the forum I've been looking for all these years. Lots of great ones out there, but this one is REALLY great!!

LOL...you are right Nemo!
That was last summer right after I bought the Ruger .44 Super Blackhawk Bisley. I was giving it it's baptism.
Just got the 642 last week.. :D

FINALLY!!!

What a time I had getting here....had to turn junk mail filters to lowest setting. Hope I can add this as a normal so I can turn it back up as I hate spam.

Any way call me Buda. Im 36 and in the worlds best military! USAF that is BTW and 99% of that time a Eagle keeper.
Just got back to the states after 8 yrs in the UK and am on my way to Korea for a year before finally ending up back in Idaho!!!! Great gun state as you all prolly know. I am originally just outside Chicago, but the good side...Indiana...we can actually have and carry what we want. But unfortunately as close to the hell hole known as Gary as you can be with out living there....hence why I have a gun when at home. Pop was a cop for too many years to count so been around guns all my life :). While on leave got a new PT145 and enjoyed my 2X shooting it! And especially after the double homicide in town by gangbangers he is now carrying it around. (Sold his P226 after retirement, said he shouldnt have and would have given it to me!!! Nice to know now). But still has his HK4 in .380 which is why I suggested he use my .45 (Im not keen on .380 when you can have 3 more rounds of .45 in the same size package). And the above is a big reason I want them to move out of there even though I know they wont and why I am going to Idaho!!!!!!!!! Compared to NW Indiana there is no crime in Boise.

And I now REALLY regret not getting the AK and AR's that I wanted to at the gun shows but tax returns werent in yet and figured Id wait till i get back to Idaho. But with 1022 and my faith in congress I may be screwed by the time I get back (BTW e-mail my fellas in Idaho, not that they would vote for it). Hoping I can order online and ship to local FFL and have him pick up with a notarized POA.

Anyway sorry to ramble on so much but damn it was hard getting here!!! :)

Just an old head here dropping by to welcome all the newbies. I think you'll find THR to be an enlightening experience. Lots of interesting folks and subjects.

Me, I'm 63, retar...er, retired, so you youngun's keep working hard to refresh my social security check so that I can pick up a few more toys.

I was in LE as a young man and then went into the insurance racket for 37 years. Great wife, swmbo, of 41 years, two sons and dil's and three grandsons.

I'm into shooting handguns and have several. I've got some rifles and a shotgun or two.

Life member of the NRA and involved in local and county government. Things won't change for the better if we don't start at the grass roots government level. I urge you all to get involved, get appointed to boards, run for office. Ben Franklin once said that "...we gave you a Republic if you can keep it..." That means more than just going to the polls and pulling a lever.

Anywho, welcome aboard.

Greetings from the PRNJ

New to this forum, but lurk and participate in several other firearm oriented forums. Like anything that goes bang. Current pursuit is EBR's, but have a safe full of varmint rifles and handguns. Haven't hunted in a number of years but enjoy punching paper. Competed, many moons ago, in handgun silhouette and IPSC. NJ doesn't make it easy, but we keep plugging along.

Adios,

Pizza Bob

I am new to the high road in posting. I have been reading here for months.

I am a new hunter at age 32 (better late than never I guess), who just purchased my first gun. Interest in bird and deer hunting as well as plinking.

I look forward to interacting with you all!

Thanks,

Todd

Another FNG

Hey all. Been reading on your site for weeks now and decided to join up to share my 2 bits from time to time. I am a gun nut even though finances do not allow the purchases of the firearms I would love to own. Avid recreational shooter, hunter and fishermen. Just took up relaoding a few months ago to feed my habit. Carry to protect self and family and am member of NRA and vocal in a less that politically correct way. Live in the socialist republic of Oregon and stay becuase if I and people like me quit fighting for our rights this state becomes another California.

Another Noobie

Been lurking here for quite a while and really enjoy this forum site. Seems to be full of good people. I'm a handgun person at heart, but have been looking to buy a black rifle soon since the political winds may change. I look forward to conversing with everybody. :)

SFT is my SASS alias, stands for Sons of the Flying Tigers in honor of my late grandfather, or Santa Fey Trail if it helps you remember it better, or you can call me William.
I hail from Texas, born in the State capital of Austin, but have lived in Florida, Geogia and Arizona at different times. As you can tell my main hobby is cowboy action shooting, but I do some woodworking here and there as well. I'm retired law enforcement (medical) and belong to several CAS clubs in the area, plus I enjoy helping build and improve the clubs store fronts and range. I love hunting hogs with my lever guns, I've got "Marlinitus" so I get to choose between .44, .45, and .35 Remington.

I call New Braunfels home now, as I just bought my first place about three months ago.

SFT: I'm in Austin, and go to New Braunfels just about weekly to shoot at the Dietz range. I'm pretty new to shooting - bought my first gun the day after new year's. It's good to see (relatively) local folks on here. There's an Austin THR shoot scheduled for March 31st (location still not decided) if you're interested. The thread for that is here: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=249173 . Good to have you here.

Newbie from Hawaii

Aloha all,

Newbie from Hawaii checking in and coming out of the shadows. Not sure if I can contribute much but will be soaking up as much info as I can :)

Signed up here for a while, but haven't introduced myself properly.

16 year old from New Zealand, joined the shooting club myself(then introduced dad to shooting).

Goes shooting at local range (.22lr) every week, member of the Air Training Corps(New Zealand Cadet Forces) and I have a firearms license and no firearms...*sadly*

Only rounds I have shot in my life are .22lr every week at range, three rounds of 7.62x39 ,three rounds of 7.62x51 and 2 slug shots....

And still has lots to learn.....

I am a 22 year old female working at a ortho surgeon clinic and a full time student. I enjoy competition shooting and just being out on the range for a little practice. I just got my CHL, but since I am just under 5 feet and 94 lbs. it is hard to find concealment options; especially with the gun I am carring -Springfield 1911 micro. My groups are tight and well placed so I don't want to get rid of it!

Off and Running Hard in Texas

Just got into guns. So I have not had time enough yet to sell one. So far it's shotguns that interest me. Have bought 4 shotguns with tons of accessories since December - about 3 months. Hope to be able to stop soon, or the retirement funds might run out. Here's how I'm doing so far:

1. Mossberg 500 12 gauge Field, 28" VR barrel. Extra 18.5" security barrel. Rifled barrel with scope. Numerous extra chokes for turkey and even a rifled choke.

2. Hatsan (Turkey) Escort Semi-Auto 20 gauge Youth model (for my wife). She likes the self loading. Me, give me a pump any day (will I mature?). Problem: difficulty finding accessories.

3. Benelli SuperNOVA 12 gauge 28" VR barrel. (24" rifled barrel on order.) Chambered for 3.5" shells. Almost bought a Mossy 835 for the 3.5" chamber. So far Benelli doing OK but I still wonder about that 835.

4. Mossberg 500 Bantam 20 gauge 22" field barrel with 24" rifled deer barrel combo. This is for that other female or grandchild that hunts with us.

5. Tons of accessories....took over a large closet in the house. (Tri Viz sighting system is awesome.)

Man this is fun :) !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

[ But how can I stop............. :-( ]:cuss:

PS...my next door neighbor wants me to buy the Benelli Elite O/U double shotgun set. His 12 ga and her 20 ga. Double gun case for the lot of them. Awesome scripting. $4300 retail (for 2 guns). So far the O/U disease has not taken hold. Also I can't see me paying that much for a gun...believe it or not... ANYBODY WANNA BUY 1 - 5 ABOVE TO FUND THE PURCHASE?

Greetings - An ex-Marine, VietNam veteran with a passion for firearms although I no longer hunt. I have my favorites, AR-15, Thompson (semi-auto darn it), a CETME that fires faithfully and with minimal recoil, have had AK's and others also. I prefer semi-auto military, lever action for fun and bolt action or single shot for long range accuracy. My favorite hand guns are single action Rugers. Favorite caliber is .22 Mag and I have it in every version mentioned above.

Hey, I live here in Northern California and have family up in Placerville. I have a nice collection of guns: Berretta 70's 22. Smith & Wesson model 36 snubnose 38 that I make hammerless, Ruger Blackhawk 4 5/8th 357 mag, Ruger Redhawk Stainless 5.5 inch 44 beadblasted and magna ported, Winchester 1200 12 gauge, and recently acquired a lever action Winchester lever action 44 mag. Not much of a hunter but I do love to shoot the guns. I do get tired of people thinking that since you own a gun you like to kill things!:fire:

Back on the Boards again

Life long gun nut. I like shooting hand guns and shooting at clays. I used to shoot an post a lot more a few years ago, but life got in the way. But now I'm back and waiting for my CHL to come in the mail
