I just got myself a new NEF Pardner 12 gauge. This is my first shotgun I've purchased, and I can't wait to hit some clays with it!
I went for a single-shot for a couple of reasons: mechanical simplicity (I like that), clean appearance (I like that, too), exposed hammer (I really like that), and easy cleanup.
Easy cleanup is important because I plan on running black powder shells through this.
The only problem I seem to be having so far is disassembly. After removing the screw from under the forend, I can't seem to get the thing to budge! Does it just need a good, solid whack? As simple as the gun is, I don't want to go and ruin anything right away.
Also, my gun has a modified choke. Does this mean anything, where slugs are concerned?
Any information and insights are greatly appreciated, as always.

Im not postive but check about that slug in a modified choke I think its a no go due to a
choke is used to tighten up the pattern of shot, shooting a slug through a reduced choke
might be a bad idea I would check to be sure.

Slugs will be fine. They will just get swaged through the choke, no biggie. That's what the rifling on the slug is there for.

burnse, I have a slightly older model 88 pardner that I had a similiar issue on. I found that the barrel needs to be closed up, when removing the forearm. Was sitting there for awhile thinking of why is this forearm not coming off, but the barrel was opened at the time. Also, I may mention, on the first disassembly of the forearm, the forearm screw lug can get obstructed by the hole in the wood of the forearm where you remove the screw. Hope this helps.

My old Pardner 12 gauge single has a modified choke and shoots slugs just fine.
Of course your shoulder will be killed off after shooting a box of five.

my H&R modified shoots horribly at even 20 yards with rifled winchester super x and fiocchi slugs, I think its the slugs because I tested the POA at 15 yards with buckshot is centered.

I think you made a great purchase the NEF Pardner is an excellent value for the money and American made too.

Ordinary slugs should be fine, but you don't want to shoot sabot slugs. There's no point in shooting sabot slugs without a rifled barrel.
