If you want .22's

This deal pops up a lot. Use to be it was sold out in minutes. Now, it may last for days. May not be your first choice in .22lr...but it's eight cents each, delivered.

Anyone have a range report? I have some of this but have yet to shoot any.

I use them in my CZ. Second most accurate behind Wolf Match Extra. At 100 yards I had the neighbor kids hitting a 2" gong with about every shot.

There are threads still running about guys not being able to get .22's. Well, this is delivered to your door.

I like Federal Automatch. It shoots good in my Marlin XT22 and Ruger Single 10.

I don't see $26 a box as a good deal though. AutoMatch sells for $20 a box at my local Dick's.

It's a pretty good price these days, but yes, it's still over what it did, and should, sell for.

if you look around enough you can find 22LR shipped for under 7 cents a round.

I just bought 2,500 rounds last week from 2 different sites that had sales for about 6.5 cents shipped. even at that price I feel I'm getting raped. seems like just yesterday it was 2.5 cents a round.

there are tons of ammo search engines. I look though a lot to find the deals.
most of the best deal are sold out before I get off work.
as we get closer to November the prices WILL increase ...several weeks ago it was pretty common to find 22lr for under 7 cents shipped

i shoot lots of federal bulk because it's cheap.
it's dirty n not very accurate.
out of my 22/45 i get a 3'' group at 25 yards. with cci sv i get 1 1/8'' groups.
so, it's plinking ammo.
it's not for serious work, but i have uses for plinking ammo too.
if you do to, i can recommend it when it's cheap.
it is a step up from garbage like thunderick.

Look up Sharpshooter .22LR Reloader online.

As for Federal Auto Match ammo, that's a decent price nowadays for a fairly consistent quality .22LR ammo.

I agree. But, any time you post here you gotta count on two things

1. No matter what the price is, there's always somebody that is gonna chirp that you paid too much, and

2. The stuff I use is WAY better than that crap. You're stupid for even considering it.

Reason I posted is that right now one of the obligatory "I can't get .22's at Walmart" is running. AFAIK, deliveries are made to most anywhere in the U.S. With this, don't have to live at Walmart to try to find ammo.

So now, you'll get the "it's too expensive. I used to buy it for fifty cents a box". Well, welcome to 2016 pal. My 1968 GTO was $3,228 brand new. Of course, I was making $11,00 a year with a college degree just a few years later.

I'm paying less than that per round in 525 bricks at my LGS and the local Gander Mountain of all places has 325 round bricks for about a dollar less at 24.??.

.05/rd CCI Blazer

.05 rd Blazer
As of 08:30 Bass Pro has Blazer for .05 rd with free delivery.
Just ordered a case for $259 delivered.

Just got my 'order update' as unavailable / out of stock eventhough it said in stock and let my place the order and get my hopes up :(

BPS has bricks of Blazer and Federal Champion in stock. ~.05 per round if you go with store pickup.

Edit: Sold out of Federal, just got the cancellation email. I ordered some Blazer, we'll see if that goes though.

Edit #2: Blazer sold out.

Guess the days of going to Walmart and picking up a 500 count box for $7.95 are not back yet?

jmorris, you're showing your age, and I'm showing mine by knowing what your talking about. I remember $5 a brick Winchesters.

I got the same at walmart last week it was $17 and change don't remember the exact amount. They had about 10 boxes and more of other brands too

the only 22 ammo I have seen at my walmart in rockford Il the last few years has been shot shells and 22 shorts. a few months ago they had several places on the shelfs for different brands and kinds of 22 but I never actually saw anything other than the shotshells and late the 22 shorts.

the guys at the sporting goods counter sometimes claim they never get any in and sometimes claim it sells out almost as fast as it comes in.

however, I am able to get the federal 22 mentioned in the first post by mail order from gander. They make you ship it to the store for Illinois residents but shipping is free and they let you buy 5 boxes at a time now.

they have it in the store now and then as well, but they usually only let you buy one box when it is in the store.

$17 would be a deal as far as I am concerned.

I just ordered it from Academy Sports for $18.99, free shipping so I just added a couple 50 round boxes for $3.99

This evening at Walmart they actually had some 22 magnum ammo and some high-velocity CCI 22 of some sort along with the 22 shorts they have had for the last few months. Oddly No 223. I think this is the first time I've seen them out of 223 in a long time.

Not really that long ago. 2002-2003 I found a particular lot of Winchester dynapoint that was very close in accuracy to federal gold match and was under $8/500. Still have thousands of them left from back then.

I have scads of it, but have only recently shot some of it. I ran a couple hundred rounds through each of a Mossberg 702 and a Taurus PT22. It ran smoothly through both guns, but I wasn't paying real close attention to accuracy, just testing the new Mossberg for function. I did have one instance in which the slide on the Taurus missed the next-up round and closed on an empty chamber. Unless an "extra-hot" round cycled the slide too fast, that was more likely a magazine hangup, though, and not an ammo issue. Never happened before with that gun, which had only previously been fed MiniMags.
