Well first off, concealed means concealed. "They" shouldn't find out you have that snubbie til reports of the SD shooting make the news, and you're calling in to say you've taken the rest of the day off. Do they have metal detectors at work? Personal searches? At the same time, if this is a decision you haven't come to yourself, you may find that you can never be comfortable carrying in The Forbidden Zone.
Second, I'd advise you carrying the laptop bag in your hand instead of on the shoulder strap for short walks (to/from van). That way it's easier to drop when you have to run, or if all else fails just bash 'em with it. Something the size and approximate mass of a laptop bag certainly warrants dodging if traveling through the air towards one. The laptop is not your property, thusly it is a handy club.
Barring that, I dunno, keep a flathead screwdriver handy.
