I've got a Norinco Mac-90, the one imported as a "sporter" with the awful thumbhole stock. Is there anything I can do to legally change the stock to a standard AK butstock and pistol grip or does it have to stay the way it was imported?
The thing is a frigg'n tank and has never jammed, is accurate enough to be fun and is an all around great firearm, i just can't get over how bad the current stock looks and feels!!!
Please help me legaly make my knock-off AK look like an AK.

Read up on 922r compliance. Basically you will need to replace several parts with US made parts to comply with 922r. Trigger group (3 parts), pistol grip (1), stock (1), and something else usually.

I did my MAK-90. A Red Star Arms trigger group, although most folks use Tapco trigger groups. A Tapco pistol grip and a Tapco gas rod. I am complaint with any mags now. Before I did the gas rod I could only use USA made mags.

(3) trigger group, (1) pistol grip, (1) buttstock, (1) foregrip.

There you go. Replace those and you're set.
