Norinco rumor

Yes, I knew about the M1-A's and such, but supposedly this is very recent.
No Norinco shotguns in stock at Davidsons, for example.

There was a hold on their imports after some Norinco made missiles were found in Iraq. Not sure if the ban had been lifted yet or not. I ocassionally see some of the Norinco copys of the cowboy shotguns listed on the web. I bought one of the double barrel, double hammer stagecoach guns a few years back. Lots of fun for $150, (back when I bought mine) but it is no jewel!

Here;

Scroll down about 2/3 of the way, they have them

All I know is the importation of their 1911's was halted quite a while back. I cherish mine as it works all the time. That's a lot more than I can say about my Kimber...and thats after a trip back to the factroy. Essex

Big deal. To make sure nothing else happens, vote to make sure another Clintonista doesn't become president.

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

Partially true. They just can't import any of the fun stuff due to clinton.

There are two separate EO's banning certain Norinco imports. One is from the Clinton era, but another is from 2003. Hmmm. Who was President in 2003? Let me think ...

I'm not sure the people with blinkers know that answer. Was it Hugo Chavez? Putin? Hu Jintao?

EO's have been rescinded by later presidents too. Guess nobody has the conviction to rescind that one.

Maybe if China would use less lead in their paint the price of ammo wouldn't be so bad.

Were the Norinco AK's any good? I remember when I was younger (80's) I heard they were substandard compared to Polytech.

The 1911s were banned much earlier.
The more recent ban on "Norinco" firearms was done by Bush in retaliation for finding that Norinco had supplied war materiel to the enemy.
I don't have a major problem with that.

Please, that didn't hurt Norinco one bit compared to how it impacted the american consumer. If I didn't know better, I would think the american firearm companies lobbied Bush to do it.

Norinco builds a load of crap, firearms (especially those sold in america), is chump change to them.

As a Third World Warrior, I never liked the notion of the Chinese army (Norinco) having an income from selling firearms in the U.S. The Chinese have been, are, and will be our adversaries.

Strangely, I feel nothing but warm fuzzies for Ishmash (sp?) /Kalashnikov. Mikhail and his successors are the originals. If I were ever to purchase an AK, I'd like to have it supplied by a Russian. Of course, we can't buy those either.:(

So it goes!

It's not strange at all. The Soviets lost the Cold War, so we won. Therefore, there's no grudge on our part. Souvenirs of the Soviet era--"spoils of the Cold War"--are fine to have.

The Chinese government and its subsidiaries are a different matter.

Sure you can. It's called a Saiga.

I want to ask a question... If you happen to support a Bush ban on certain Norinco firearms being imported into the US, being justified by their supplying weapons to our enemies, why is it still okay to allow the import of about anything else, including contaminated wheat and toys painted with lead paint? The Norinco gun market is relatively small, and there is little doubt that the loss doesn't affect China very much. So the whole deal seems kind of dishonest.

The motive of the two part Chinese freeze was to hurt the Princelings in the PLA who use foreign gun sales as a slush/retirement fund.

The Princelings are so well diversified now that I do not think it matters to them. A side benefit to the United States government was slowing the arming of the American people (both FBI and ATF were terrified of the prospect of $70 CKCs continually being available), but as guns are so fungible I think that benefit to .gov was short lived.
