Not A Thread for S&W Purist

Nice job! I carried a Chief Spl. for 30 years, until we transitioned to Glocks, and took the spur off the hammer with a grinding wheel. I did that when I noticed every one of my suits had the lining ripped, yes, right where the hammer was. Also made for a smoother withdrawal with no chance of snagging.

Nice gun!

But just a hint...S&W purists aren't going to care one way or the other about any gun with Dymondwood grips on it. :) I'm just glad you didn't paint it red. I believe a lot of model 64 police guns were converted to DAO in the 80's, so it's not like there's no precedent. Looks good! Have fun!

I have a 3" M65 that's stock in every way. But I did take my M10 4" and ground the ridges off the trigger and put a set screw in to eliminate over travel. It was then "de-horned" and a little smoothing of the insides; no porting done. These do make really slick revolvers.

Good news! I manage to score a decent 64-5 and now I just gotta figure out which Smith to send it to for a similar treatment.

Any recommendations?

Very nice combat revolver. Sadly two are needed to meet the challenge of "Kool Aid" G19.

Seriously? You're concerned about that?
Here's a Model 10-6. It's been chopped to 3". The forcing cone was set back almost against the cylinder. The cylinders have been chamfered for faster reloads. The chambers have been reamed, and a .357 will drop right in. (Not that I shoot .357 from it, but in a pinch I could.) The hammer has been replaced with a target style hammer. It shoots great, and carries well.

Here's a Model 10 that has been slightly altered. Let's see if you can spot the alterations.
The inside of the right grip panel was signed by Jerry Miculek at the last shot show. He giggled, (in a very manly way).

I like it. A 3" K-Frame is a very practical revolver IMHO.
Guess I'll never be a purist or serious collector, I've changed this or that on some of my guns just to suit myself. Sometimes just grips, other times sights, removed sharp edges, changed trigger type, trigger pull, and on at least three occasions, barrel length;)

You took a sweet shooter, and made it into a great EDC. I know I alter a small
part, here and there, to make a gun more usable.

Plus, the work is reversible, if you do decide to sell.
