For the most part a troll is someone who goes to chat rooms and forums and they make controversial posts just to try and get you to argue with them or play the fool because they get you angry or emotional. They like to "bait" people into arguing and try to make you look bad. On gun forums you will find a troll will try to get the people there to argue with them so the troll can point out how crazy gun people are. In this case the person who started this thread made a statement "you know how that works" making it sound like all gun owners are willing to break the law to get a gun. IMO that was a troll like statement but here on the High Road no one is going to fall for that crap and fight with him/her.
I'm sure there are better definitions but that my way of explaining it... Hope that helps.
my understanding of law here in utah is you can legally own a pistol at the age of 18 but are not able to purchase them.
I have had an armed security liscence here since i was 18 and am now currently 20, I carry a 1911 at work. However am not legally allowed to buy ammo for carry or practice.
From my understanding what he did isn't illegal. If he got a permit to purchase and bought it off of someone who purchased it from the store he hasn't done anything illegal. If they want to make stupid laws with stupid loopholes, we should take advantage of them.
"Don't worry kid, you'll be 50, bald, and fat before you know it. Then you'll have bigger things to gripe about -- how to pay for the kids college education, are you saving enough for retirement, is that dark spot skin cancer..."
You ain't kidding there! Seems just yesterday I was 24 with no worries - that was ten years ago. Life really flies by when you aren't paying attention.

So i couldn't buy my home protection ( carry piece in 9 months when i turn 21) from a gun shop, so i had to have someone else purchase it for me and then purchase it from then, you all know how that works.
The definition of a straw purchase, from the ATF is
STRAW PURCHASE
The acquisition of a firearm(s) from a federally licensed firearms dealer by an individual (the “straw” purchaser) for the purpose of concealing the identity of the true intended receiver of the firearm(s).
Therefore, the OP was fully aware that he could not legally purchase a handgun from a dealer, so he “had to have someone else purchase it for me and then purchase it from them”. How is that not a straw purchase, and therefore illegal?
But it probably would make a good federal conspiracy charge if the feds were inclined to press the matter. I would have to agree that a "straw purhase" of ammunition is illegal, even if the illegality exists under a different set of statutes.
