Not shooting now

To be honest I have not shot this year is because of primer shortage I can't replace what I shoot. I have a fair amount of primers but will I be able to replace them. Maybe next year will be better

I am kind of a fly by the seat of my pants kind of guy and a terrible planner. I am not well stocked on primers but will continue to shoot until I am out and then try to deal with it…..If not, ice fishing is right around the corner. If that falls through, maybe God will say enough of this and the rapture will happen and it is all a moot point. …:D. Long story short, I like to try and live for the day.

This is a touchy subject, and folks have different opinions on it, some have been stocking up for decades now, some just got started in shooting. Some are young and broke, like I used to be, some have plenty of cash, some are older with paid off houses with a bit more income now, like I am today, and others are in between.

So, all kinds of folks in all kinds of boats.

The advice remains the same though, stock up when and how much you can along the way, especially when sales happen, and eventually you’ll be far enough in front of the eight ball you’ll be ok when this happens again.

So, be patient with those who say you should have been prepared, as well as those caught short and not happy about it.

Start stocking up when and how much you can, for some that’s a case, for some a box, and help those you can if you’re in a position to do so. And to THR members credit, we see a lot of that.

Thanks for all who posted support.I have been stocking up for 25 Years I don't have a lot of surplus but I am all right.but I am concerned about not getting any more. if the powers to be will dry up the primers we are done. I just don't want to go down that road.So thanks again

I've been shooting the same as always, mostly from components and ammo I'd been stocking up for years. As I've gotten into 300 Blk and .357 Mag since the ammo drought, I started casting old wheel weights to make cheap bullets. Ammo prices are starting to come back down now, too, if you shop around online. Online last month, I brought Swiss, brass cased 7.62x51 for 66 cpr and steel cased 7.62x39 for 32 cpr. Even 22LR ammo is coming down. You can get CCI Std velocity right from their website for 10 cpr, which (while still twice the price it was 2 or 3 years ago) is cheaper than center fire ammo ever was in the last 10+ years. More so with air gun pellets if you wanted to go that route. I shake my head when walk into many gun stores and see their ammo prices are twice or more the going rate online.

Sorry that I open a can of worms with this post, from now on I probably not post anything any more sorry

Don't let a few snarly comments keep you from posting.

I've shot less this year than ever before but its not because of the shortages. My MS has advanced some and I just have not felt up to the work required to pack things up and go to the range. Things that used to be easy for me now require more time and sometimes more thoughts on how to do things differently. It was really really hard for me to get my head wrapped around the idea of using a walker.
