Cool Beans

Calamity Jane,

I thought my wife was the only person in the world who used that expression.:D

Post count

On one of the car forums I visit, we have a term for those who post, just to post. They're called "post whores" and that name is worn as a badge of honor there. Not surprisingly, the "server is busy" much of the time. :D

Interesting to note that TFL's all time high was 572 users at one time, a couple of months ago. The High Road already has had 457 up the day after Christmas.

I forsee the death of television as we know it with sites like this.

I remember reading a thread on TFL about how big and active it was. The general guess for the number of active members was around 200-250 IRC.

I think that guess was just a .... liiiiiiitle ..... loooow.

Tee hee!! :D Like 2nd Amendment, I use that phrase quite a bit without having the first clue where I got it from.

Has a nice ring to it, like a twist on the more common expression "Cooool!", but to someone who doesn't like beans (let alone "cool" ones), it wouldn't mean much... ;)

I just got a mental vision of something.

I see Sara Brady going over the reports on her desk. She has this look of joy on her face as she reads that TFL has closed down. :D Then she reads the report of THR starting up. I can't quite see her face now.

It's covered by both hands and she's bent over her desk. Oh yeah, I can hear the cries, moans, and gasps though.

Isn't life grand?

It is grand, and I like to keep in mind that the 18k TFL members have been culled by the transition. There won't be that many THR members as I expect that a lot of the trolls and merely curious TFL members won't bother coming here.

Maybe it will be like Gideon's army in that it was culled from 10,000 to 300! However, THR already has about 1,500 members since Tuesday, and the word may spread far beyond TFL. Maybe tens of thousands of NEW enthusiastic members concerned about the things that motivate us will join. I hope so! :D

Don't forget, too, that many of the 18,000 registered users of TFL were no longer active. As a test, I did a quick flip through the 500+ pages of members of TFL, and a huge number registered more than a year ago, but haven't posted in the past six to twelve months. In other words, they're inactive. I think we've got most of the active ones right here on THR (Hooray! :D ), and I think our growth will now slow down as the remaining active TFL'ers trickle in. I expect us to be in the 1,500 to 2,000 member range by New Year - perhaps higher with luck. From there, we'll grow by word of mouth, as TFL did.

So, all of you who are here already - DON'T GO AWAY!!! :D

Hell no i ain't going away. theres too much knowledge to soak up. As a 22 year old gun enthusiast, I'm telling everybody about this site. Its a great place for someone to go to who has alot of questions.

Since we're at exactly 1,460 right now, I'd say that's a pretty conservative bet to make, that is if you were going to bet.... :D
