Now THAT was a fast reload...

Fast yes, but it looks like a 1911 (probably STI), and it also looks like he's got his finger on the trigger the whole time (until he gets the muzzle into the holster). The trigger finger could just be me not seeing a straight finger or the blurry quality of the video.

Good muscle memory though!

Cool. Might have some mods on his gun to help out though, like a beveled mag well thats a bit larger than normal, etc. Still impressive.

You're right, on closer inspection, it does look like a 1911. I just assumed it was a Glock 17 because that's what I happened to be searching for at the time :)

a 1911 race gun & holster w/ extended mag well. and yes, finger on trigger till holstered. ipsic/idpa, this can be acceptable or a DQ. depends on the 'program' you are engaging. faster tnan me, though i have never tried to catch the falling mag( which is weighted to fall free real fast & smoothly).

In one of Massad Ayoob's training videos, he demonstrates reloading a revolver with a speed loader. He is as fast as these guys doing magazine changes.

In that second video it doesnt appear that he is inserting a new magazine in... does anyone else agree or he just moving that fast?

From the front, it almost looks like he's pantomiming it, but the side view, you can actually see that he removes a magazine from his belt pouch and if it's not inserted, I don't know where it can go.

In my opinion, in the first video, the finger is not on the trigger. My thumb is just a bit too short to hit the mag release on a 1911 without changing my grip just a little. Changing my grip puts my trigger finger about at the base of the trigger guard, essentially exactly opposite from my thumb, just like is shown in the video.

And that is really freakishly fast!

While the gent in MDeViney's link is fast, he's also not fighting recoil. The rounds he's firing are black powder blanks.

Watch Jerry Miculek or Bob Munden with full power loads. Now THAT's amazing!
